I cant be stuffed looking through all the threads to find my answer so im just going to ask now, and anyone who would like to challenge me/humour me are free to do so :D

Ok, Multiple Choice Question
-15- Shouldnt the answer be D?
What i did was used the area of an ellipse formula, found the area which worked out to be 7539mm, then found the area of the rectangle which came to 240mm. then i just minused those and got 7299- to the nearest square millimetre = D 7300 mm

-17- Shouldnt the answer be B?
10% of 880 is $88? That means she is refunded the GST price of $88 when she leaves Australia? therefore the answer should be B

-19- Shouldnt the answer be B?
using the formula i got $253.77 as the final amount. Minus this from the $250 initial amount and your left with $3.78....Makes sense doesnt it?

I might be totally wrong on all 3 of these occasions, so prove me wrong :D

Okay for question 16 I originally had $88 but realised it was wrong, you need to look at the question carefully..

The question states that the price included GST

10% of $800 is $80, add them together to get $880

When that GST is given back to her it is subtracted, so she gets $80

At least I think that is right

Q15: A = πab, but a and b are like radiuses, so you have to do π x 30 x 20 and not π x 60 x 40.

Q17: The question is basically asking for the GST component. So just divide by 11.

Q19: You're right there!

Hope that helps! :uhhuh:

well 17 i know if wrong
$880 included the GST
to it was the price (100%) plus the gst (10%)
so the price has 11 parts not 10
880 divided by 11 is 80
correct answer A not B

yours was a common mistake

there is a thread of the answers
found 2 ways
first going back to general math thread and into Exam answers ie the first thread

or going here

yeah question 17 was a common mistake that i nearly made too. then i remembered that $880 was 110% not 100%, so you divide 880 by 110 then times it by 100 then minus it from 880 and you get $80 refund.

easy mistake. Goodluck with the rest of your exams
:p
