A) Leon Trotksy was a more logical and likely sucessor to Lenin that Stalin" In light of this statement, why was Trotksy unable to prevent the triumpt of Stalin as leader of teh USSR.

B) Assess the extent to which Trotksy was responciabel for the victory of the Bolsehvik party by 1924

Are they more likely to provide a statement like in A) (above)with a question linked to the statement or just a straightforward question like in B).

Most of these Trotsky questions are really based around 1917-1924 and then the debates with stalin

but in the one before they can even ask you things about him that are outside the time period! isnt that weird?

hey, this is from my trial paper. enjoy!

a) Identify the roles and policies undertaken by Trotsky in the Communist Party of the Soviet Union between 1917 and 1928.

b) "Stalin was moderate and methodical not to say pedestrian, but he was the only one skilled at building tactical alliances and this put him head and shoulders above the rest" M McCauley, 1993, The Soviet Union, 1917-1991
In light of this statement, evaluate Trotsky's failure to succeed Lenin as the leader of the Communist Party

Dont think any of these are repeats

· Describe the role of Trotsky in the Red Army’s victory in the Civil War

· Discuss the features and the results of the power struggle b/w Trotsky and Stalin in the period to 1928

· Assess the role of Trotsky in the development of communist theory and practice

· Describe the significant influences on the ideology of Trotsky

· Describe the role Leon Trotsky played in the establishment of Bolshevik control in the Soviet Union until 1924

· 2004 HSC - Write a brief biography of Leon Trotsky outlining the key events in his life

· 2004 HSC – ‘Despite his socialist idealism, Leon Trotsky was in fact, a practical revolutionary’
In the light of this statement, assess the role played by Leon Trotsky in the Civil War and the consolidation of Bolshevik power

·

This is one I'm working on at the moment...:

"Leon Trotsky was an intellectual giant and a ruthless revolutionary"
In light of this statement, assess the role played by Trotsky in ther period 1917-1923.

SOURCE:

Trotsky was loves a s a leader of the revolution, yet by the end of the 1920's his name had become a term of abuse. It took Stalin no more than five years to turn a hero into a pariah. Trotsky himself was partly responsible for this. His tragedy lay in the fact that in his tireless and passionate struggle with Stalin, he facilitated Stalin's seizure of power in the Party. It was Trotsky's own doing that allowed Stalin to surround him with a circle of scmismatics, heretics and otehr internal enemies. Paradoxically, it was Trotsky's furious fight against Stalin that helped Stalin to become a bloody dictator.
