when u come her make sure u study hard buddy. i seen heaps of international students flunk out. not sure why. maybe english skills, maybe not enough study.

and why UWS? why not MQ Uni?

I don't think I will get offers from MQ because the courses competitiveness is much higher than UWS. The avarage UAI of MQ is higher than UWS

I don't really want tempt my luck with the offers and will most likely wait for them to come in a post box.

Anyways, maybe you could help me, i am a non-year 12 student, did my HSC and got a crappy UAI of 56, and did a TAFE diploma, completed it with 11 Distinctions, 7 Credits and 2 Passes, now what are my chances based on this. Hoping to get into Bachelor of arts at either UWS = 70.50, or University of Sydney = 83

You will be fine and easily get in if you do Diploma well. I just used a professional Exam (ABRSM grade 8) + Overseas Secondary study (GCE A-levels)

not at all. the Non-school leaver entry at MQ is very very very friendly.

u cant compare UAI for Non school leavers, coz every uni uses the NRSL index differently.

UWS for example, here's detail for NRSL


Your application will be considered on at least one of the following:

• Your secondary school result or TER/UAI (if applicable) or interstate equivalent
• Your work experience (must be at least 1 year full-time paid employment)
• Studies that you have undertaken since leaving school (e.g. TAFE diploma, previous university study – minimum of two subjects)
• Result in the Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT)
• Professional or paraprofessional qualifications (e.g. hospital based nursing certificates or professional body awards that require examination)

If you use one or more of the above as a basis for your application, each criterion will be allocated a rank of 100. The highest rank will then be used in assessing your application.

Thanks...I will get to UWS as soon as I can. 3 hours to go...I will be fine too because of ABRSM exam. It should rank higher for it.

dont u get 9 preferences anyway? dont not put down a preference just coz u dont think you'll get in. u never know untill u try.

MQ is better than UOW and MUCH better than UWS.

Yes, Half of them are UWS and another half are for UOW.

kenny chan, seriously for the final round, do yourself a favor and put some preferences for MQ or even UTS.

you got nothing to lose.

UWS is really a b-grade uni. (no offence to anyone who goes there)

no, there are lots of people get into UWS. u will probably get into UWS. looking aty our grades i know you will. i am pretty sure you could get into UTS and MQ also.

its just that the reputation of UWS is not of world standards.

especially if you want to work in HK after u graduate, the prestige and reputation of the university to the asians are of great importance.
