I haven't read the entirrety of this thread but a bit back;

Never ever treat a subject as a bludge. Treat all your subjects as "real" subjects. As they could all contribute to your ATAR. You could find you hate one of your subs tonnes and drop it and regret bludging in another.

In yr 11, I vote putting consistent effort into each subject so you can see which subjects you have a more natural affinity for (same amount of work in a subject but much better results=a better affinity for it).

Also doing 14u is not so bad, you can always drop a unit or two during yr 11 or drop stuff at yr 12 where you will have had the upperhand of tasting more subjects! Take wendybird for example :p

I'm taking:
Ext 1 Maths
Advanced English
Music 2
Physics
Latin
Economics
Studies of Religion 1 (Compulsory in Year 11 at my school)

I'm gonna drop some because I realise it's a lot of subjects..

Woah, I realised around 90% of people here either chose Ext 1 Maths or Ex1 English or both. This is gonna be an epic competition.

Remember you are competing with the state, not the BOS community xD.

Wow. Everyone is doing 3U English and Math. I haven't seen many creative subjects... come on ppl...
These are what I've chosen. Not confirmed yet (I'm moving to a new school. Yay me.)

- English Advanced + Extension
- Mathematics + Extension
- Studies of Religion I
- Ancient History
- Music I
- Dance

If I don't get one of those (I hope to miss out on dance if I have to miss any of them) then I may take up:
- Biology (for the sake of a science)
or
- A language (I love languages!)

Most people that stand a chance of state rank ARE part of the BoS community.
Exactly, what i mean is even though people here are doing high scaling subjects and getting high marks none of that really matter unless you are aiming for an atar above about 95.

Am I allowed to say what subjects I want to do in 2013? for HSC prelim?
Haha there isn't anything stopping you, just specify that you aren't in there year = P
Besides, sure you aren't going to change your mind over the next year and that you will be able to get all of your options?
