What is more important? the rank itself e.g. 1,2,3 e.t.c
or the mark between the ranks like the gap between 2 and 3 is only little, but gap between 1 and 2 huge?

What is more important? people always say its 50% / 50% assessments & exam (external), but like ur assessments will only look as good as you make them as a result of your HSC exam mark. Thus higher emphasizes on HSC exam (assuming you have an alright rank) true?

and one more thing, ive been told that the person with number 1 assessment rank in a subject TAKES the persons exam mark who came first for that subject and school in the HSC exam. Is that true? and also what if the subject size is small e.g. 1/17 economics?

Internal/External equally essential. You can't afford fail any one of them.

True, but ranks are much more important.

Ranks are very important but so are the gaps between the ranks.

e.g. if there is only 1 mark between 1st and 2nd then there will only be one mark when the final assessment ranks are worked out but if there is 10 marks then that gap will also be reflected in the moderated assessment marks.
