Why is -2a^x not exponential decay? (1 Viewer)

I cant understand why -2a^x? any ideas?

I think exponential decay is only when the power of the e is negative, not when the constant is negative. I could be wrong - it has been a while since i touched on this topic.

The power must be negative

It needs that specific 'slide'-like shape to be called exponential decay (rapidly falling before flattening). With your example, the shape does the opposite (starts flat before dropping rapidly).
