Hi guys, I have been wondering if Maths Standard impacts ATAR drastically/much, I'm in Year 10 and I'm currently in Maths Standard Pathway and I have the chance to move up to Advanced Maths Pathway for year 11 Advanced, if I work hard this time, I do know that Maths Standard in yr 11 scales down but do you guys have any friends, or yourselves or anyone you know who did Maths Standard but still got over 90+ or 95+ atars?? I'm aiming for as high as possible but can I accomplish that with Maths Standard, like Dux or top atars 99/98+ anything else, because for me, its just my maths that is average (Standard) mostly. Generally asking people who already gotten their ATAR marks or are doing ATAR very soon. Is the impact/scaling/difference drastic between Standard yr 11-12 and Advanced?? Is it generally possible for me to move to accelerated or is it very hard even if I really put my effort in? And also, if anyone who has ever done Maths Standard for HSC but got 90+ ATARS plss give me advicee it would help me a lot, having a hard time deciding, not the deciding but just does Maths Standard affect a lot, like is it impossible to get 99.95 atar with it? ALSO DOES MATHS STANDARD AFFECT YOUR CHOICES IN UNI??? LIKE THE COURSES.. this one is important to me,

To those who don't want to read ^
1. Anyone who have done Maths Standard but got over 90-99.95 atar with it?
2. Anyone who got Dux and/or top atar/top of their school with Maths Standard?
3. Does the scaling impact a lot (decreasing) - What's the difference between Standard yr 11-12 and Advanced?
4. Does Maths Standard affect what University Courses you can take? e.g. you get 99.95 but u do Maths Standard so you can't go into medicine study.
5. Any Advice if I should move from Maths Standard to Advance?
6. Are there chances for me to get to Accelerated Maths at this time, stage late on, is it too late?

This will be very helpful for me tyyy T-T

Oh yeah plenty of people get 90+ atars with std math. The only thing is that u it’s hard to do stuff like engineering if u do std. but it doesn’t scale too bad unlike std English. Ik many people who got dux with std including people at my school

I'd just like to also add (jic u arent decided on what to do yet), that I got about 55% in Yr10 maths overall. Knew very little coming into Yr11, but was able to b6 adv maths. Obv it came with lots of studying, but u can def do either if u put ur mind to it

5) judging by the year you're doing your HSC, you're only in year 10 currently! i wasnt the best at maths in year 10 and i was very close to being in the standard pathway, but i ended up getting significantly better as the years went on.
id say to just go for advanced and keep pushing until you're 1000% sure it's not for you. you can always drop down but it's usually impossible to go from standard to advanced. i think this way you wont have any regrets.
