yeah but if a net cafe does that and Valve finds out, they get raped, i help a net cafe and saw what happened when they bought individual licenses for all the steam games. Valve banned every account, got fined (which was retracted because of mixed messages) and told to buy Valve Cafe Licenses.

Considering previous popular games have taken out or changed the offending content I think that's very likely...less "gore".

I have never played L4D, but after seeing that L4D2 was banned, I watched some stuff on youtube about it, and I'm totz against this ban. It's complete crap, and that letter by the Macquarie Uni student (Dan Hughes?) to Atkinson tears his counter-argument to shreds.

What else are we going to miss out on because the Aus Government thinks children will be desensitised by videogames? -.-'

I don't even play video games much anymore, although back in the day... anyway I don't play games much anymore and this makes my blood boil. Much more stupidity to this level, like this and the internet filter, and Australia will have a serious brain drain on their hands. Theres only so much stupidity intelligent people can take, they will be the first to go. I can see it in the text books of the future; The great Aussie diaspora, political refugees of the 21st century. Get out while you still can. Before the wall goes up...

On a more serious note, we do need a bill of rights. Stuff like the internet filter would never even be suggested in America, thanks to their bill of rights.

As I posted on the petition:

I don't understand how the content of Left 4 Dead 2 is any different to that of games such as its predecessor Left 4 Dead, Killing Floor and the newly released Resident Evil 5? In Resident Evil 5 you are , I quote "inflicting violence upon ‘the Infected' who are living humans infected with a rabies-like virus that causes them to act violently" one of the reasons why Left 4 Dead 2 is banned? Or is it okay to kill those zombies because they are black? Another thing that makes no sense is the claim that the I quote "use of melee weapons as those that "inflict the most damage" and cause "copious amounts of blood spray and splatter", pretty certain Left 4 Dead also contained the use of melee weapons along with 99.9% of other shooters. It just seems to me that whatever game the public is raving about The Classifications Board have to ban, for what purpose? To protect children? How about spending more time and money on the Department of Human Services and protecting children the right way rather that worrying about what games are to violent.
