LAX has to be one of the worst airports in the US. it is so old compared to what is outside and people are just so rude, even more than New Yorkers

It was in the old Tom Bradley International Airport as well. Which they're still in the middle of redoing. Apparently it won't be done for another year and they've already been working on it for about eighteen months. Not going to lie, I used to love it when Sydney - LA Qantas flights used T4 instead of Tom Bradley.

There is nothing good about that airport, that city or the people in it. I keep trying to fly through San Fran instead but it never works out.

yeah it seems wherever you're going in the US you have to stop at LA to make a change over. i lol everytime when i think of the show OC in comparison to the actual place, because the place is a little Saigon. JFK airport is the only one i like.

Actually you're all wrong, my flight is San Fran to Sydney on United.

Yes i've heard the LAX horror stories, especially with the domestic terminal. Basically the United domestic staff are Satan's spawn let loose on an airport.

Also my longest layover was sixteen and a half hours in Taipei, which is quite the ancient airport.
But you get a free tour of the city if you're there for over 7 hours during the day, which was sublime. And the gate lounge benches weren't attached to the floor so you could adjust them to make a satisfactory bed!

BUT. Surely if you flew United to San Fran you can get connections to many U.S. destinations as that is one of their hubs?

United Airlines: Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago-O'Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Honolulu, Houston-Intercontinental, Kahului, Kona, Las Vegas, Lihue, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York-JFK, Newark, Orange County, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland (OR), Reno/Tahoe, St. Louis [begins February 11], Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle/Tacoma, Toronto-Pearson, Vancouver, Washington-Dulles

United destinations out of San Fran. Depending on what time the Syd-SFO flight lands i'm sure you could wrangle some pretty good connections out of that, whilst avoiding LA.

If you can try to fly Virgin America or JetBlue. Both new, both really good. AA is practically just as bad as United. All the older airlines are really on par in terms of terrible customer service. The newer startups are trying a lot harder. They may not have as many routes but try anyways.

You guys are so hard to satisfy. Well if you can just bear third world United til San Fran then it is also a hub for Virgin America. But do tell, I've never flown them before, it will be my first time, what is so bad? Also have either of you flown with Lufthansa? I have 4 short and long haul flights with them on my trip.

I've just been flying long routes for a really long time and when you can get the same flight for a better or equal price and with a better airline, then why put up with the worst?

LA is also a hub for VA so eh. I only fly Qantas to and from the US anyways. And Lufthansa is good. I've only flown them once in Europe but it was a good experience and I've only ever heard positive reviews from friends.
