Breaking: UWS evacuated after attempted gun point robbery - Local News - News - General - Penrith Star
STAFF and students were evacuated from the University of Western Sydney, Werrington South, this afternoon after a man with a gun was on campus.
Police officers remain at the university searching for the offender.
Police say at about 1pm today there was an attempted robbery of a woman by a man armed with a pistol in the car park.
No property was taken, but the woman is suffering from shock.
The man is described as being 170cm tall, with medium build, wearing a dark hoodie-style top and tight pants.
The woman has told police the man spoke with an accent.
He was last seen running east from the car park towards the Great Western Highway, Werrington.
Police said at 1.15pm, university management decided to evacuate the campus as a precaution.
All entrances to the University campus remain blocked.
The Star understands staff and students were told there was a gunman on campus.
Anyone who might know of the mans whereabouts or his identity is urged to contact St Marys Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
