How will my cohort make a difference to my atar??? (1 Viewer)

My school is ranked maybe 400-500... maybe even higher.. :S


anyway.. this year my cohort is really strong, like i believe we will have a lot of 90's 80' and majority in the 70's... i think we will have very little if no mystery marks...

my question is, can my cohort pull my marks up because they do so well?
i am certain that our school ranking will increase for next years cohort.

My current cohort has 3 candidates for getting dux. One of them wants to do Medicine and other one ones to do Aeronautical space in USYD. I think they will both get 99 ATAR, but the 3rd one has received more first places than the other two.


So I think there will be 3 99s in our cohort this year. Would this be good for my ATAR ??

yes, if you aren't first in all your subjects.

Both of them are doing Chem, phy, eng, SOR and ext Math


one of them does eng, 2unit and 3 unit.

Yes, if you are first pretty much your cohort will make no difference to your mark.

If yuo are second your mark is formed by moderations/alliging/gaps from the top mark, bottom mark and the gaps inbetween them

Mate you should see my school. There are so many retarded people it isn't funny. 50+ people failed general maths with the top score being 21%


Coming 2nd or 3rd (If the gaps are really close) won't make huge difference in your marks

If i come first, which i most definitely will seeing theres 2 ppl in X1 Maths, 4 in X1 English, around 6 in Eco, 4 in chem, 4 in phys, what would happen. Giving that I get high 80's/ mid 90's in those subjects?

It is just the BOS and in my opinion private schools don't make a difference.

This is the main reason why my school is ranked so low, many people don't take it seriously.


high raw 80's?? Unless you are ranked first you mark will be affected by everyone elses marks and ranks

If you come first you should be unaffected by your cohort...
the assessments.. and trials separate the kids who try to the kids who don't.. therefore all those that do well will be scaled up and shouldn't be affected by those who didn't do as well...

also if you come first then you will be given the highest internal mark after externals are complete..
