my teacher had a quick look at the mc and said 8 was d, but she could be wrong. Im hoping she is right though, as its what i went with, what did everyone else have?

Yeah 8 is definitely not D, Its either A or C but A makes more sense

I put 8 down as A cause it mentioned mortality and the graph measured rates of death

I put 8 down as A too because if you look at the graph the numbers dont start to drop till the 1970's and if you look back at CVD mortality is decreasing you need to use some of your knowledge too, im sure its A.

... Initiatives prior to 1970s could mean 1969 or 1960 or 1950 for all you know. So why would there have to be significant reductions before 1970? Also initiatives don't automatically result in a decrease in mortality. Initiatives to eradicate smallpox started in early 1800s reductions weren't seen for a while. Also by your logic there should have been significant reductions in deaths in 1950. What you're saying is because mortality started falling in the 1970's there had to be initiatives beginning in the 1970's. By that logic the answer couldn't possibly be one that says education in 1950 otherwise there would have had to be significant reductions in 1950, no? Let's also not forget D talks about prevalence while the graph is mortality.

For Q8, I agree i looked again and thought it was A, but i see the deaths stayed the same basically from 50's-70's so definately not significant, I had D but the graph really doesn't ay anything about prevalence then again to die from it you must have it.

I swear it was lung cancer, oh damn i'm pretty sure my whole class would have put that because we had had a disscussion on it before when it came up in previous
papers :| an i am still unsure on Q8 it says significant decline and it hardly even decreased?? i suppose we will find out later

Check the textbook, im pretty sure its Coronary Heart Disease. Did your whole class put lung cancer or CHD?

yeah no, i looked it up on australia's health 2010 it is CHD, i put lung cancer :| our class had discussed it before and saw it was lung for both genders that
was obviously the wrong data, oh well

Lung cancer is the biggest cause of death for cancers but CHD is the biggest for all deaths
