It might be a good idea to mention somewhere along the lines that

I know it's pretty obvious, but it's best to acknowledge the criteria in the question that a and b have to be positive themselves

Next time, just copy the code from the editor and paste it here with {tex} and {/tex} around it, replacing the {}s with []s

you got part i right. for part ii, graph the line y=x-6 and see that it touches the circle once and has a y intercept of -6? Compare that form with y=x+k and figure out what other values of k (i.e. the y intercept) that touches the circle once by shifting the line. Now you can figure out where the line will cut the circle TWICE and therefore the values of k
