i. Find the least positive integer k such that cos(4pi/7) + isin(4pi/7) is a solution of z^k = 1
ii. Show that if the complex number w is a solution of z^n = 1, then so is w^m, where m and n are arbitrary integers

wtf i'm trying to look for clues to help me but all i see are confusing letters everywhere
For (i), the clue I see is the 4pi/7, and then z^k. When I see z^k we are obviously increasing a complex number to some power.

Think, we should have cis(???) for it to be equal to 1.

In other words, what should I raise cis(4pi/7) to, before it is equal to 1?

Re: The p00n thread

Idk about you but thats a lot to me
why would you need to memorize that

Also that list is redundant, you dont need conj(z1 - z2) = conj(z1) - cong(z2) and you dont need conj(z1/z2) = conj(z1)/conj(z2)

wait why is 4pi/7 a clue?

Well we need cis0 = 1 lol? i don't understand this

because what happens if I need it during an exam... lol

Does it really have to be cis(0)? How about cis(2pi)? How about cis(4pi)? etc.

See where this is going...?

Does it really have to be memorised though? You will indeed need it during an exam (Example is 2011 HSC 4U Question 6 Locus).

That question needed the property |a/b| = |a| / |b|.

.. no... what does that have to do with z^k = 1? does that mean k = 0????? smh

Well yeah I mean how else would I know to use a property if I don't memorise it lol

Suppose we let z=cis(4pi/7).

What can we raise z to, before it becomes equal to 1?

Read it! You can finish it in 1-2 days. Just gloss over the descriptions about the houses and stuff lol
