Yea I think the motor one is the best to do, theres so many variables you can play with to get nice results - and its pretty hard to be wrong about them too.

But yea out of all the bits and pieces needed the hardest to get would be the nice bar magnets and a power supply if you don't have access to one. All the other bits you should be able to find equiv. replacements for around the house. The one we did in the class was really simple, nothing more than some paper clips, a cork, retort stand + the usually attachments and some enamel wire and a piece of sandpaper!

Thats true, if the method was just handed to you, it really defeats the purpose of doing an open ended investigation. So you might want to give it a go first, and if you do get stuck afterwards there's sure going to be help around.

Actually I think most of us do. At least in my school anyway. Especially for the sciences, they make it compulsory for us to hand in syllabus summary notes every so often.

Its kinda good in a way, it makes us write the notes, but most of us thinks it really defeats the purpose sometimes making us hand it in because there are times when we have to rush it to get it handed in and we end up not doing it properly.

Oh yea, not to mention they also make it compulsory for the notes to be hand written. So even if we are copying off each other 8:30 in the morning you'd still have to read the notes before you can copy them!

Theres really good and bad things to typing notes up. The good side is theres less effort when you type it, its a lot neater, very easy to edit and much more legible. But the practice in writing the material is gone! So really its personal preference, if you can write like the wind and not get a sore hand then why not go for the typing.

A classmate of mine types up his notes first, and hand writes a copy after. Thats doubling the work really, the printed copy he keeps to study with, and hands in the written copy like the rest of us.

I think its to the point where its just not legible, but they probably have some strict definition for 'legible'.

You can type up your stuff as well if you can't write because of injury.

Simplest to vary (without giving too much away!), you can vary:

- the strength of the magnet (this might be hard to get different magnets)

- the size of the coil (area of the coil).

- the number of turns in the coil.

Of course there are others. Once you've done your research and you've found the formula that works out the torque in a motor, simply vary the components used in the formula to create a notable change :p

typing notes up is good if u have a habit of losing ur notes

and if u want to edit stuff, u just edit and print again!
