pretty sure math exams u have to think critically, unlke hand ins, where i can just ask chatgpt and boom

but for other non math subjects it would be better

Some internal assessments are important to test skills that a HSC style exam cannot. For example, practical exams for Chemistry. You cannot really be good at Chemistry if you just memorise theory and can’t even run experiments properly. You need to be good at both.

yes, because I expect to know the entire syllabus at the end after not having to deal with writing pointless internal essays and science reports and stupid math assignments.

HSC isn't uni, nor is it suppose to replicate the assessment style of uni. HSC is suppose to RANK people for uni. HSC is suppose to rank how booksmart you are. Trying to be a jack of all trades but master of none by including subjective internals just ruins it.

Also external exams testing the entire syllabus is not unheard of... for example, A Level does it where they sit like 8 hours of EXTERNAL papers in total for one subject

Also why is nesa so slow and still making the hsc on paper. Like they're killing 10000 trees each year. Even NAPLAN is online

Absolutely not!

If I was in a selective cohort for mathematics advanced, I wouldn't have gotten a band 6 since my assessment mark would've been too low due to an extremely competitive cohort. Meanwhile achieving a top rank (doesn't have to be 1st) is pretty easy in a non selective school if your lucky. Still, I came close to not getting a band 6 since my assessment mark was only a 90.

This is another strong argument against internals. It only benefits small populations and small schools with barely any competition.

In a selective school like James Ruse, you're pretty much guaranteed to get the lowest assessment mark, even though ur exam mark could be average. there's no recovering

we should be like america, they only do SATs for entry into uni
so its not forced upon everyone who wants to graudate or whatever only if you wanna go univeristy

A good one at that. You need like a 1600/1600 sat score OR close to that but many extracurriculars, letters of recommendations, personal essays to even get into a top 100 uni as well. Meanwhile usyd and unsw you only need a 70 atar for some useless courses which is just average

I mean you can argue that you don't need to go through the HSC or directly into an uni to do what you want to do or make money, Tafe exists for a reason, plus the case still applies to the US. But like the actual curriculum and system is just complete bs, there's a reason why there is so many students fail basic literary and numeracy tests.

fun fact about Ai i have learnt from a friend who meddles with the stuff, as time goes on, the stuff that spews out will get worse and worse because they train the models off their own response. Hence the overall average performance (specifically in the case of literary) will be lowered.
