So the ATAR only comes from year 12 units?

Because when I write; Music (2 units), that refers to year 11 Music (2 units), that refers to year 12. etc So does anyone have an answer for my question: 'It said on one of the websites that you need 4 subjects to be eligible for an ATAR; So do you need a total of 4 subjects...
