It's hard to tell since I don't have any idea on how your school decides on whether or not to let a student do the course, but for the most part dedication is key, if you have shown them that and can convince them you really wanna give it a go you should be fine. If not I know of plenty of cases...

That isn't a valid excuse for the school, I cannot think of a situation in where dropping mathematics is needed at all... I would definetely contact the school with your parents/guardians and get this sorted out imo.
