    ATAR Estimate

We only usually get one or two people doing it per year, but it seems that they do consistantly get band 6. And there is no restriction on who does it.

Don't worry about your school being low ranked. Mines not even in the top 300, but still my twin brother got into the bio summer school (in year 10) and i got a credit in phys, and im giving bio, chem and phys a go this year. :p

    Specific Heat capacity

    1. ΔH = - m C Δt (where m is the mass of water in kg (0.025kg), C is the specific heat capacity of water (4.18x10^3) and Δt is the change in temp (-3)) 2. ΔH per gram = the answer for above / 5.85g 3. Multiply answer to 2 by molar mass of NaCl (~58.5g) so i would calculate ΔH/mol = 3135 J...

    surface area for mitochondria.

The mitochondria has a folded inner membrane to increase the surface area on which aerobic respiritory reactions (mainly the Electron Transport Chain) can occur, allowing for increased reaction rates. So yeah the folded membrane looks like squished up intestines, and the chemical reactions...

    Paramedic courses *requirements*

Apart from the above info for the ASNSW vet program and CSU program, there is also a B. Paramedic Practise run by UTAS in Rozelle Campus, Sydney. http://courses.utas.edu.au/portal/page?_pageid=53,32959&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL&P_COURSE_CODE=53A&P_CONTEXT=NEW As far as i know those are...

    Preliminary Bio Syllabus question.

By the formula for aerobic (with O2) respiration it means- Glucose(sugar) + oxygen = Carbon Dioxide + Water + Energy for the body to use. This is just a simple way of stating what goes in and what comes out of a complex metabolic process, one that you needn't understand until next...

mathsonline is more effective than my 3unit teacher

After seeing this thread I tried mathonline and it seems fairly decent... i wouldn't want to relie only on it, but it seems to complement what ive learnt in class and help to revise.

    Help with biology question

Cholesterol in the Plasma membrane increases fluidity and so stops the membrane from freeing and fracturing around from around the living cell. (It basically acts as a membrane anti-freeze). Hope this helps :)

    formula help please

Hey, Im pretty sure that those elements form these compounds- 1. SCl2 2. HI 3. SiH4 4. PF3 As for working it out, i looked at the valencies of the elements and then worked out how many of each would bond to form a valenece shell of 8 (or 2). eg. H (valence +1) bonds ionically with I...
