haha I dont even know anymore...just gonna leave it cause you cant change it now and no point dreading about it still found it to be a good exam though :)

    That tower question

We should still get 2 marks if we said the mass from Tower A dropped straight down, right?

    transmission question

Re: General Thoughts: Physics It makes sense with your working but we must have calculated our efficiencies differently :/ I got around 6 MW for B and 3 MW for C so with my working its correct as well...wonder how theyll mark it

    General Thoughts: Physics

That was the whole point, you have to imagine that the particle is stationary and the anode is moving towards it, not the other way around. So if it asked from an observers perspective then it would contract but from the electrons perspective it would increase. Bad example but if youve ever seen...

    General Thoughts: Physics

Really fair exam imo but 2 things... It didn't ask about price, so C was actually the best choice because of its efficiency and also for that length contraction one it was 40.2 cm because it was asking from the electron's point of reference. I came across a question very similar to this one...

Significance In some experiments, the charge-to-mass ratio is the only quantity that can be measured directly. Often, the charge can be inferred from theoretical considerations, so that the charge-to-mass ratio provides a way to calculate the mass of a particle. Often, the charge-to-mass ratio...

What was the significance of J.J. Thompson figuring out the charge to mass ratio of the cathode rays (electrons)?

Oh wow you're right, the change in flux will actually drag the magnet down Good catch haha :)

    Physics marathon (hsc)

^that is correct but you should also note that as the magnet is pushed up due to the meissner effect as the superconductor gets cooled, a change in flux occurs and a current gets induced in the superconductor which helps the magnet levitate even more

For the first part, to be honest I've never even seen B = kI/d but I managed to derive it (kinda) You should recheck your formulas. It's F/l = kII/d and the other one is correct. After playing around with them I was able to change it into the one you said F = lkI^2/d and F = BILsin() BILsin() =...
