Re: The Poem Was About A Dog?
And your fine.
I know it may be true, to a certain extent, but that doesn't mean I agree with it or believe it at all. This is merely postmodern crap. You can NOT ignore what was intended by the author, and saying it was about a dog renders the poem utterly...
Re: The Poem Was About A Dog?
No. Shut up and stop spouting crap. If you didn't understand that the dog was being used AS A METAPHOR then you do NOT deserve full marks.
I could also say that murder is justifiable, and give reasons for why I believe that, and my reasons are legitimate...
Re: The Poem Was About A Dog?
Wow I'm impressed that you knew that specific fact... but surely you'd have realised it was actually NAMED after Charles Darwin? That he voyaged on the Beagle was less obvious, but it still would've probably added to the whole dog thing in the poem.
No, it isn't illogical to disagree. If anything, it was more logical, as it is a lot easier to say that journeys are positive processes that give strength than it is to say they're negative.
Re: The Poem Was About A Dog?
Not if you're completely and utterly misinterpreting an entire text, based on one extended metaphor.
You're saying that the single tree constitutes an entire forest, to paraphrase an idiom.
Re: The Poem Was About A Dog?
No, they're not. The poem was not from a dog's perspective. It was from a human's perspective, who used the metaphor of being a dog in some brief parts to enhance how he perceived the new Darwin.
