I think you can just do whatever you want with your degree. Second year transferees have to take a designated set of law subjects which have nothing to do with any other degrees. I transferred into law in my second year and didn't take any law-related subjects for my first degree. You'll be okay...

Although the requirements for ATAR/GPA change every year, you'll realistically need to be looking at a GPA of around 6.2ish (which is about a mid-Distinction average) to have a good chance of securing yourself a spot in Combined Law. Anything lower than that and it would be really hard to say...

Your ATAR looks very strong and if you have a legitimate reason when applying for EAS points such as illness etc then you will most likely get in. I know somebody who had an ATAR of 98.50 but still managed to secure a place at USYD Law through the EAS scheme because he had some sort of illness...

Oh really? Do you mean first round as in the November Round or the Early January Round? I checked on the UAC website and apparently USYD doesn't give out any offers until the Early Jan Round at the earliest. I'll check in a couple of days, but I think it'll probably come out in the Main Round...

I recommend the method that worked for me- Write practice essays, give them to your teacher/tutor to mark, take note of feedback, submit a refined essay (repeat this until you've been told that your essay's all set to go), memorise it, practise adapting it to all sorts of questions...
