    World War One Full Sentence?

Sometimes they say things like 'name three pieces of equipment shown in the picture'. You can just say: guns, sandbags, trench periscope. No need to go further, there's only so many marks available and you need to save as much time as possible.

who just does not give a f*ck anymore?

PS. I still care though. Weird illogical way of thinking = I can't make myself work, but will still be very depressed and upset if I do badly.

who just does not give a f*ck anymore?

Oh I know....I was coming first in all my subjects except one....now I've realised I've left studying too late I just can't motivate myself to hang in there and not give up before I start. Everyone, I have one word: SCHOOLIES!

    Not being realistic.

I know, it's hard to stay positive when everything you learn seems to be focused on how to pass an exam. You won't be kicking yourself though, I'd say it's the opposite. A few years after the HSC it means nothing. Plus there are so many ways to get into uni now.

just wondering, what's your uai goal range & course preference?

I'm not telling my first preference cos it is craaazy. I figure if a miracle happens and I didin't have it I'd be kicking myself, but if I get 10 UAI points lower than my 1st preference it doesn't matter and no one has to know except me :) I'm hoping to get 95+ so I can get into arts/law at...

    Not being realistic.

No, not at all. I just think it's silly how people need to justify their goals. It's like you're basically saying that yeah, you're really smart but too cool to do anything about it. "I had the potential to get well into the 90s" - how can you be so sure of that? It just came out sounding...

    INDOCHINA: Diem quote

    Okay..just a hint...*reps will abound*

    Not being realistic.

That was directed at DeathlessOne's comment, btw, not mishka's. Which is oh-so-true.

    China People!

Yeah, I love the way when Chinese political writing is translated into English it sounds so funny....the metaphors are just constant and so dramatic. And the grammar structure never quite translates well. "Never sign the treaty! Better to have forced occupation than voluntary submission...

    INDOCHINA: Diem quote

Just wondering.... I remember hearing a quote about Diem which referred to him as a "puppet who pulled his own strings". I can't find it in my notes anywhere and I'm not sure if an actual historian said it or if it's just a general way he is often referred to. Does anyone know who said this?

    Not being realistic.

I'm being realistic in saying that my target is in the 90s. What I would really love is 95+ so I can get into Arts/Law at ANU. My assessments were pretty much all 90+, so as long as I don't majorly screw up the exams I think 90 is acheivable.

    fuck the board of studies

Hehe for a minute I thought you were talking about yourself in an obnoxious third person kinda way....

Anybody in the same boat as I am??

For a lot of people on here the HSC is a competition, and that involves psyching out the 'competitors' - us. That's why it's not worth letting the people here freak you out. A lot of them probably DO write 20 pages, and it's probably really good stuff, but honestly who knows for sure what the...

    China People!

No probs. What sources are you all using? We've got Buggy as well as a few photocopied extracts from Sheridan. Plus I've collected a couple of quotes from Meisner and Hsu, but mostly just Buggy stuff. Plus the Bergere stuff for Sun Yixian.

    Approaches/Aims/Purpose...same shit different smell?

Yes and no....I guess it is all inter-related to some extent, which is a good thing because it means you can draw heaps into your essay and make it nice and long and impressive looking :). But aims is not the same as approaches. Aims INFLUENCE the approaches of the historian, but you have to...

    Who has one of these?

I don't know how people can burn their stuff...I couldn't bear standing there and watching an entire year's worth of work just go up in flames. Don't know what the hell I'm going to do with all my notes, but destroying them would just be so frustrating. Yep, there goes the last year of my...

    China People!

Yep, you got it all there from what I can see....I'd definitely link in that last point, I think it's really important. You'd say that not only was foreign support vital, but all foreign interests in China had a significant impact upon the success of both GMD and CCP forces in creating a climate...

    Sources

I did extension history too and what you've said isn't true...historiography is the study of the ways in which history is interpreted, as opposed to studying the events/personalities themselves. WW1 isn't really historiography, it's source analysis more than anything else. Discussing the debates...

    Post Exam Anxiety

Omg I made myself sick yesterday. I never knew you could suconsciously self-induce a fever...I'm stressed. And all these years when I actually WANTED to have a sickie, I could never pull it off. Sigh.
