Bad luck, you're going to go for 4U Maths right? To complement your 5 unit pimpology?

Shit. 40 is a huge amount dropping. Are there that many in your grade who "don't give a shiz"? BTW Years 9 and 10, you've probably heard this again and again, but never choose to do standard at the start of year 11 if you have a choice.

How many do Standard ATM in YOUR grade?

Oh well, I guess so. I'm just surprised since 40 is a massive amount and Girra has ZERO doing Standard, even by the end of Yr 12. But would you, if you were getting a D drop down to Standard by choice?

Yea, but a D %-tage at Tech in Advanced would still be an Early Band 5, which is still heaps hard to get in Standard. My point is that MOST students at Tech, (as with any selective school) FULLY UNDERSTAND ALIGNING and would care about their marks and the effect of Standard on their ATAR rather...

I seriously doubt that 40 people in Tech are doing Standard because they want. I'm sure that at least 90% of their grade is fully aware of scaling and aligning, which is probably why so many do MX2.

    OH WUT, how many class/classes?

OH and BTW, you can't afford to "fuq English" since apparently Tech does drop people to standard (Deswa said that 40 people do Standard in his grade)

    Years 9 & 10 2012 Chit Chat Thread

Most selective schools do not offer Standard English for a variety of reasons (VERY BAD ALIGNING MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET A BAND 6 and HIGHER QUALITY OF STUDENTS). I'd assume it'd be the same with Hurlstone given its selective nature, which would explain how you automatically get in...

Alright then, thanks for that unnecessary, useless comment. I can see that you haven't grasped Year 4 English.

Na, you should have clearly stated: in order to achieve water in liquid form. BTW, answer my question from before: Explain 4 reasons why there are more metals available for people to use now than there were 200 years ago (6 marks).

OH YEA WTH. BTW, I THOUGHT planino meant separating the Na from the Cl as well. I misunderstood the question. And "appropriate" is a bit of an ambiguous term.

    Preliminary 2012 Chemistry Marathon

A solution would mean that it is dissolved in water. Therefore, to get rid of the water, evaporation to dryness should be first used. Then the NaCl crystals can be distilled, due to the differences in their boiling points. Explain 4 reasons why there are more metals available for people to use...

    Preliminary 2012 Chemistry Marathon

BTW, WTF, I haven't done the tetrahedral stuff in class. My 3 points for that were just (4th point just in case): - Bond strength and length is not indicated - The lines representing the bonds have no physical reality, so they cannot be understood in terms of real life. - Some exceptions...

    Preliminary 2012 Chemistry Marathon

    - Lustre of metals is due to the high reflectivity of the delocalised electrons. - Strength and hardness is due to the strong electrostatic forces between the poisitive ions and delocalised electrons. - Malleability and ductility is due to the delocalised electrons acting as a "glue" and...

MY MARKING: You'll get 0.5/2 for that. The only compound mentioned was water. A Biosphere compound can be a protein or a carbohydrate or a fat, a Lithosphere compound can be Quartz or even Calcite, and a Hydrosphere compound can be Sodium Chloride or Water or even Magnesium Chloride. FOR YOUR...

An empirical formula is the repeating ratio (e.g 1:2) used to express the composition of different elements within an ionic compound. Identify 1 compound from each of the 4 spheres on Earth - The Biosphere, Lithosphere, Hydrosphere and Atmosphere (2 marks)

    Preliminary 2012 Chemistry Marathon

The mole is a method of measuring quantities of reacting substances. (WE HAVEN'T LEARNT THIS AT ALL YET, SO I'M BASING THIS ON MY KNOWLEDGE FROM THE TEXTBOOK). BTW, I answered your question in LaTeX. Describe the limitations of models used to represent bonding between substances. (3 marks)

There are actually 4 types. - METALLIC BONDING - IONIC BONDING - COVALENT MOLECULAR BONDING - COVALENT NETWORK BONDING Outline the uses of 3 metals in contemporary society and relate this use to their properties. (3 MARKS)
