    classical music?

Doesn't seem to affect me, but I like listening to classical just for the sake of it :D

inequalities with the unknown in the denominator

That was chapter 6, I was talking about the prelim book :p And I don't really think that actually belongs to series and sequences, it's just factorising, they seemed to have just chucked it in randomly :p Or maybe it was some other chapter? o.0 ... Meh. Somewhere in there. XP

inequalities with the unknown in the denominator

Which textbook do you use? I remember seeing it in Cambridge 3u somewhere in Series and Sequences or something...

How was your last day of school?

Some people already had their last school day? The year 12s at my school still have tomorrow and the day after (for which, alright, there won't be any school :p). And it's not just the year 12s who are having "parties" in class :D We did too for some subjects (if the teacher was nice enough...

    Few questions

I think it's only for maths that things from years before year 12 can count, but only up to something like 30%. And no, only marks in your HSC year counts :D PS. They might test things considered assumed knowledge though :p

inequalities with the unknown in the denominator

I thought a direct application of a standard result was simple enough :p
  7. airie

inequalities with the unknown in the denominator

^No, because you're saying that for two numbers a and b, (a^m - b^m)(a^n - b^n)=a^m+n - b^m+n, which is not true. Just expand both sides to verify it. Btw, for the cubic formula, just sub n=3 into the formula I mentioned above :)

inequalities with the unknown in the denominator

x5-32 =(x-2)(x4+2x3+4x2+8x+16) This comes directly from the standard result of xn-yn=(x-y)(xn-1+xn-2y+xn-3y2+...+yn-1) :)

    yearly feedbacks- mark and rank

I wish I didn't turn up to school yesterday and today. Stupid physics prac. Stupid me. :mad1: I'm looking at a great, great report  Looks as if the final physics mark is gonna be even lower than my English, which is already pushing my limit of tolerance. Physics just crashed it.

I wish. :( I've never even heard of acceleration, let alone had a chance to do it, until some time last year. x.x Cosmology does sound so interesting...

Year 10 students - What subject will you be happy to finish!

Actually, I liked Coastal Management, particularly the geological aspects of it, the best :D Didn't mind human geography, just didn't find it as interesting :p Hum. I must prefer the land to the people. :o

    How was your school day?

You better. Or else you'd end up just like me sitting in the computer room sulking. :o Or somewhere else, for that matter :p

    bio or physics ?

Obviously, bouncing light is much more interesting than insects. Screw the insects and give me ze optical fibre any day :D

    mathematical induction

So after proving the base case, if there exists a positive integer k such that the statement is true, 1(1+2)+2(2+2)+...+k(k+2)+(k+1)(k+3) =[k(+1)(2k+7)]/6+(k+1)(k+3) [by inductive hypothesis] =1/6*(k+1)[k(2k+7)+6(k+3)] =1/6*(k+1)(2k^2+7k+6k+18) =1/6*(k+1)(k+2)(2k+9)...

    2 days left...

That's true, you just choose one of the two strands, each consisting of something like seven or eight subjects. I heard from my friends in year 8 that they were starting to have a few electives too though, but they're not examined in the final HSC-equivalent exams there <.<

NSw Independent Trial Exam 2006 for Prelim?

I've actually been given Independent Trials for the prelim course for IPT, for years 2003, 2004, and 2005. So I presume the same would exist for maths. o.0

    2 days left...

lol. In China it's three years of kindy, six years of primary school and six years of high school, coming down to three days of exams. Consider yourself lucky? :p Good luck people :)
  18. airie

    bio or physics ?

Physics. Duh. For starters, astronomy is much more interesting than, say, I don't know, studying insects? :p
  19. airie

    physics help urgent please

Oh yes, I was kinda...short on explanation there :p See SS, there's nothing funny about my diagram :D
