    Tute Numbers - Help! Stazi?!

    Yes. They look like it.

Most annoying book of all time

I told you so! In my opinion, that book is a bit too long.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Mr Marx- this'll be worth a read to you. 'Soviet era less bleak than US history' Back to the topic.... Perhaps these union bosses are just radical and extreme because John Howard is the PM and has been, for 11 years. They were probably angry since day 1 and have had this anger and...

Who do you think is the Greatest Australian Prime Minister?

Yes! I'm free from exams, in the meanwhile. Damn you for quoting my mistake! Grrr....

Who do you think is the Greatest Australian Prime Minister?

Sorry, he DID name a Labor PM. My mistake. I was thinking about Malcolm at the time when I was reading that.

    Howard or Rudd?

I didn't say that he'll make a good PM just because of his friendly personality. Hey, personality is important for a politician, right? I also didn't say that he WILL improve Australia for all Australians, I said that he'll work hard to.

    Howard or Rudd?

That's if an election is today. Why do you disagree with me?

Who do you think is the Greatest Australian Prime Minister?

You're right, Latham vs Costello would be great!
  9. Sparcod

    Howard or Rudd?

Rudd! Adding onto what Neb said, I like Kevin's personality- he's friendly, humourous and not-so-arrogant. I'm sure that he's very intelligent and will work hard to make improve the nature, state and strength of Australia for ALL Australians.

Most annoying book of all time

I'm guessing that those people who write the HSC English syllabus look through this thread to see what books to throw in there.

Who do you think is the Greatest Australian Prime Minister?

Paul Keating for me. He was a great bloke who was a treasurer-turned-PM. The Hawke-Keating government from 1983 to 1996 saw huge economic reforms and started this long-going economic growth we've got today. Second would be Bob Hawke. I just love his beer-drinkin', women-lovin'...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Hmmm...didn't know that. Thanks. I was just having a read of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Labor_Party#Structure

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

I understand that the majority of Labor MPs are/were trade unionists. Labor also has strong (but weakening) links with the unions providing support. They were certainly founded by trade unionists! My argument was that the ACTU/unions and Labor are seperate (or should I say, more separate...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

That's a bit like saying that the Nationals don't belong in parliament because there are less farmers these days. I disagree with your point there. The Labor party may not be as union-influenced today. Labor party is to provide a more liberal democracy whereby economic power is...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

frog12896 has made his 100th post in this thread! I think that the main reason of the unions' campaign is not for electoral purposes but to inform the public of the bad side of WorkChoices and its impacts on working families. They could've done this last year or the year before. At the same...

Are there too many Internationals at UNI these days?

Do Int. Students get better marks than locals or is it the other way around?
  17. Sparcod

Are there too many Internationals at UNI these days?

International students provide revenue for unis as they pay upfront so that CSP exist. All international students I've come across speak understandable English. If they don't, why would they be here? You can't avoid international students. Captain Gh3y suggested you to move to the country...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Union Membership- it's still down from the WWII days. Does anybody think that John Howard brought the unions back to life again with WorkChoices? I don't know but it's quite debatable. Sometimes, I don't think that there's anything wrong with a party (whichever side) that angers unions...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

I'd say it's a lot more than 10% but less than 20%. In some sectors such as the NSW public education sector, everyone is a union member.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

LOL! They have some big issue concerning WorkChoices vs the ACTU and 'some' people find the costs of the dinner at Kirribilli more fascinating. Howard was like "What cost?". As for the so called "Dirty Tricks Manual", I reckon that it's just campaigning to get rid of the Howard government...
