b.tchy question - syclotron or whatever

F=ma is only relevant if you point out that a=(v^2)/r because that's where you get the need to increase field as velocity increases. ideally you combine them: mv^2/r = qvb b=mvq/r charge and radius constant therefore as mass and velocity increase, field has to increase in proportion

    thomsons experiment

doesn't really matter which way you do it t-i-m-m-y...you're just finding values that don't change no matter the order

    Solenoid Q

Eddy currents in the first coil are so insignificant its not funny, because the coils have almost no width

b.tchy question - syclotron or whatever

i do q2q and i'd be pretty pissed off at that question if i didn't do that option. having said that though, it wasn't really something we studied....i think most people would have logically figured out the answer using mass dilation and knowledge of forces from the core topics
  5. W

    Solenoid Q

hahaha we aren't wrong no eddy currents are being induced, its a coil not an aluminium pipe there's emf but nowhere for the electrons to go hence no current, no force.
  6. W

wat was the answer to that beaker question with the wires in it??

yeah...not sure if that gave the wrong answer given that they asked for the force "on each wire"

    Multiple Choice (Compiled Answers)

far more em radiation across the entire spectrum was being produced.....including both radio and uv. hertz was only detecting and observing the radio waves. if you think that UV radiation has nothing to do with it, what do you think hertz's initial observation of the photoelectric effect...

    Solenoid Q

Re: ... yes there is an emf in both but current is what makes an electromagnet, not just emf, so only the second one repels

    Multiple Choice (Compiled Answers)

    ratio (secondary to primary turns) = ratio (secondary to primary voltage) = 6000:240 = 25:1 - c

    who's einstein?

i didn't talk about space travel and stuff i took a more general approach that in both relativity and quantum mechanics he was a cornerstone in the classical->modern transition

    Options

in our trial they were scaled (in a really dodgy way) and when i "suggested" to the teacher it wasn't fair he said "well this is how they do it for the hsc"...but yeah that was either the truth or dodging the question

    thomsons experiment

those people who say that he just equated magnetic and electric field forces, its actually really important to mention that he also turned off the electric field, because otherwise there is no way mathematically he could determine the ratio
  13. W

    Solenoid Q

hmmmm no i didn't say it swung back down...though obviously it would.....i did mention that the effect only occurred when there was relative motion though so hopefully its implied :)

    Multiple Choice (Compiled Answers)

yes i know just warning everybody that its not definitive....i do appreciate the effort you put in :D

    Multiple Choice (Compiled Answers)

ummmm....blocking uv rays has a lot to do with the photoelectric effect. the radio waves are low frequency hence low energy and cannot cause sparking.....uv are high frequency, high energy, and hertz put the glass there inadvertently blocking the uv and thus reducing the electrons released...

    Multiple Choice (Compiled Answers)

have a look at the other multi forum.....answer to 5 is actually b not d....
  17. W

was quanta stuffed or just me??

    really is defect
  18. W

    Multiple Choice (Compiled Answers)

ahh well if you are right that's 13/15 and falling
  19. W

    graph for projectile...

The time taken is constant (unaffected by horizontal velocity). x= ut so the range is directly proportional to horizontal velocity - straight line graph.
