response lengths - how many pages?

*points in the direction of the thread already devoted to this oh-so-tired topic...*

Hmm...I kind of quoted different parts of the provided text and said how they linked to the thematic areas I'd concentrated on. For example, the line 'Nobody can stop me, not even you' is a direct challenge to both the reader and the detective, and it describes the symbolic conflict between...

    What did you write about?

That's a pretty impressive postmodern story there. I especially like the Godspeed You! Black Emperor reference :D I did crime fiction. My story was set in the future and the detective was a computer. Eventually the computer develops human characteristics and exacts 'justice' on the human...

The picture suffered from having to relate to three genres at once. The one it fit best is probably Revenge Tragedy.

How did you find the EE1 HSC Paper?

@Sim0n: I'm pretty sure the I-wrote-more-than-two-booklets school have handwriting that gets them about five words a line.

There's a scaling indicator on the site somewhere. EE1 tends to get upscaled quite hard... And this is totally the wrong thread for that question.

How did you find the EE1 HSC Paper?

11 pages for essay and 10 for creative. 8 words a line @ 20 lines a page...means 1600 words for creative and 1760 words for essay. I'm happy. I nearly died when I saw the question, but I managed to bend and abuse my semi-prepared answer into shape :D

I love how this thread is growing by the second :D Hey, it's Luke. Thought I might see you round here...and yes, Anil's Ghost is fucking terrible. :P EDIT: If you haven't covered two related texts in some detail ie. actually analysing the texts rather than just mentioning them, then...

    Crime Fiction

Oh, and I used 'The Adventure of the Speckled Band' by Doyle, and a selection of modern crime fiction works - Postmortem, Death du Jour, and Roses are Red.

Managed to fit my prepared story into the question *dance* Key word was 'significant event'. If I had to base the whole thing around it I would have been stuffed, but as it was I was sorted :D As for the essay, I found it tricky, but I think I managed to work the provided text into my essay...

The more i hear about f' ups...

I don't really like any shred, but to me, Yngwie is the lowest of the low. Personally I can't stand his tone and I can't see how anyone could like it, but that's your opinion and I won't rip on it...too much. :D The man is sloppy. The reason he plays as fast as he does is because he...

The more i hear about f' ups...

Completely OT, I hate shred. Wow, Yngwie, you can play a really fast harmonic minor scale. Cool. Oh, there it is again. Vai can produce some cool stuff, though, as can Satch. Yngwie's just a tool. :D

The Aus article in reply to SMH article on paper two

We did three, but once we'd done The Road Not Taken I ignored The Ivory Trail and Wind in the Willows. And if nothing else, studying visual texts teaches you about how designers manipulate visual elements to get their message across. It's a decent skill to have as you can view the image...

The Aus article in reply to SMH article on paper two

Uhm, no. You only have to refer to one of them in the essay, so why would you have to study all of them? How would they check? Why would they care? And of course film is fucking relevant. Film is as equally valid a medium for communicating a message or making a commentary as anything...

    Help: Extension 1 Exam Format

'You've stolen my character' is a nightmare question. The BOS actually admitted that the question was rubbish and they'd never do it ever again. Or something like that. Usually Section 2 is a creative writing, in my experience. And the Catholic Schools trial had a creative writing, and...

    Question 3 |4 | 5

I reckon I did alright. My essay tended to move between first and third person. But it doesn't really matter that much. It's just like how people are stressing that they didn't give their creative writing a title. There's no oppurtunity to get marked down for that because none of the marking...

    Question 2 (Merged)

Used the hands one. My story was about a little girl who went to the markets for the first time with her mother. The problem with writing in five-year-old first person is that it's really hard to blatantly make points about the journey, as the character doesn't have the vocabulary. So I kept...
