    Greatest Guitar Solo Ever

mason williams definitely wrote it first in 1968 and i don't think Clapton ever made a recording of the song...I could be wrong though, maybe he arranged it for a movie or something (he did work in that business), but i've yet to see any official site credit clapton with a recording of the song :P

    Greatest Guitar Solo Ever

I got so many, i can't really list them all. I reckon what really makes a solo great is if it fits in really well with the context of the song As for maiden, i like the solos from fear of the dark, the trooper and brave new world personally. A few personal ones that i enjoy include: ACDC...

    10 000 Days

I'm more of a quiet fan of tool, im not crazy about them but i like their stuff. They've got such a unique sound and as asylum said, they've got that 'build up' factor to their songs. Sometimes i'm just chilling and won't realise that there's music on until like 4 minutes into a song because it...

oh dear, aussies now 5/81, out of form gilly and warnie in. right now avoiding the follow on will be a blessing :/ kinda weird though because of two things: -last year at almost exactly the same time the aussie top order fell way out of form (including hayden, martyn, clarke) before the...

    New RHCP Song

i like the video when it goes through all the musical eras (especially the 80's glam look, and the take off of those old 60's shows with the guitar being worn at like chest height), but yeah overall it's an average song i reckon.

    Semester 1 Chatter Thread (2006)

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Yeah i heard very good things about the thai place down the road, but i have yet to go there. The engo cafe is just outside the engineering library, burgers, chips and drink for $6.40 i think. Asides from that, yeah i usually go down to broadway or to the lansdowne if...

    When is music considered good?

yeah mate i was thinking the same thing. i think you MIGHT be able to put it into an arts degree with geography or sociology, because technically it is an analysis of pop culture and geography studies may include that. As for the sociology side, music could be some sort of external factor that...

    When is music considered good?

Music is good when you think it is on an off topic, how is the con? I'm thinking of doing a double degree with engineering and arts (im doing engineering at the moment). Now do they have music studies or some kinda general music course as part of an arts degree (come to think of it, am i...

Back to the 70's for good rock?

I was an avid 60's and 70's fan when i started playing guitar, but 80's thrash and hair metal would be my favourite genres to listen to nowadays. I never really got into the popular 'rock' in the 90's (all that alternate, grunge, indie stuff). Nowadays, pretty much the same thing, there seems to...
