Re: Australian Politics Chatter Thread If you were talking state, and aren't just trying to save face, I have no idea what on earth you were on about here: The State election is now closer to two years ago than one. If we're referring to state, Rudd's approval rating means nothing, Rees'...

Re: Australian Politics Chatter Thread Federal elections in Australia occur every three years, not every four. Why do so many people find it difficult to wrap their heads around this fact?! Also, given all the discussion in the thread preceding CH's post were about state politics, I'm...

What is the best trilogy of books or series?

God, 14 pages of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Tomorrow When the War Began and countless other sci-fi or young adult book series. How utterly dull. For something different (here, I mean, not so different amongst anyone with a brain), I'm going to say John Updike's Rabbit series.

    Rudd's $10.4bn cash giveaway

Well I think it's good, both in terms of political intelligence and expedience (the two so rarely correlate too). Oh well.

Britain Shaped the World says Tony Abbot

What? Your own prior knowledge didn't tell you otherwise?? Surely the United States has had a greater influence on the world in modern times than any other nation? Plus their history is one of the most interesting out there, certainly moreso than Britain's.

    2008 Presidential Election - Obama v McCain

As I've stated before, Lincoln is the least qualified President in US history. James Buchanan was far more qualified. Would you have picked Buchanan in 1860 just because he was more experienced than this Congress reject? An even more precarious time in US history, too. I agree McCain'd be...

Right now, who would you vote for?

...Yes, I'd say that does indeed fit the description of being coincidental.

In the unlikely event this civil war should eventuate, why would that mean we don't have HSC?

    NSW Govt absorbs RailCorp

Good. RailCorp has been terrible. If everyone here weren't so quick to claim Rees is as bad as Iemma I assume they'd be saying the same (aside for the free market absolutist wankers).

Right now, who would you vote for?

Bah, I find in the current times adding all the Greens votes to Labor and adding all the rest to the Liberals comes up with an often remarkably accurate 2PP. Which makes this poll, currently, 50-50. Nevertheless, a poll in the News subforum of the BOS website is not something worth getting...

    Who hates greens?

Well, I can only say anecdotally today I've noticed Catholics today tend to be Labor supporters, and Labor members, if not atheists/agnostics, more often Catholic than something else.

No, certainly not, at least not in its regular posters.

    Who hates greens?

How stupid. You realise, through history, the Labor Party has been the party for Catholics? Greens are cool with me. It'd be great if they could rise as the second power, with all elections being Labor vs. Greens, and the vile existence of the Coalition can be forever diminished.

    Wall-E

Finally saw it, to be late to the table, after just having been ludicrously busy for the past month. Amazing first half, and kind of went a little downhill from then, but still remained pretty good. I would say I'd be rating it as my favourite of the Pixar movies, overall (though The...

    2008 Presidential Election - Obama v McCain

Jimmy Carter had a fair amount of experience though? It's not the be-all of presidential ability, you know. Or else Gerald Ford'd be America's all time greatest president, and Lincoln the worst.

Re: Australian Politics Chatter Thread Rudd has ruled out going into debt, and has pointed out there's all kinds of unspent money saved up for him to fool around with. So stop whining, and realise it was the Murdoch press that released the story (therefore its truth is immediately...
