    Laptops for Uni

Re: Laptops @ Uni I like how people are surprised to find that uni actually involves work - it's like, "it's teritary education what did you expect". Organisational skills, adaptability, strategic and analytical thinking and time management are the main ones (important for work as well)...

    Laptops for Uni

Re: Laptops @ Uni It's a logical progression though, like you should be able to handle it if you have good habits in HS. It's a skill you will need for your career, because from uni to work and from work to higher work, that jump will always exist.

    Humanities syllabus

I'd argue that the design of most humanities exams prevents people from cracking high marks as well. Getting the top marks in essays is extremely difficult because the essay really has to be up there. Doing everything right in an essay wont necessarily see you get full marks, often you need a...

Re: Laptops @ Uni It's a step up for sure, but if you have good habits in High School then you should be set.

Re: Laptops @ Uni I did Commerce. I did Law for a little while but dropped it - that required a lot more work.

    Laptops for Uni

Re: Laptops @ Uni I just didnt need it - too be honest, I spent most of my time avoiding uni. My degree should be "Bachelor of Broadway Centro (major JB Hi-Fi)"

    Laptops for Uni

Re: Laptops @ Uni If you feel like you need one go for it, but for most people they become a really useful tool for reviewing Facebook or other stuff. It might be useful for some degrees, but to be honest, pen and paper is just as good. Then again, this is coming from someone who never even...

    Humanities syllabus

I'd agree that subjects like Legal Studies, SOR and Business lack content, but Modern and Economics surely dont. Both are extremely content heavy. However, with a lot of humanities subjects (especially Modern), learning the content is only half the picture. In order to do well in a subject...

    2014 NFL Season

A bit late, but are there any NFL fans around? The seasons nearing the playoffs, so we are getting into the nitty gritty. I was watching Bears v Cowboys today and seriously I cant figure out how Jay Cutler has managed to remain the starting QB for this long. Has anyone lived on arm...

    Life

There isnt anything wrong with that, I personally just dont really see that as being much of a meaning. I started off that post by saying "The problem I have..." because it's really my issue with the meaning of life debate. People are free to believe what they want and if that gives them...

    Life

The problem I have with "the meaning of life" question is irrespective of whether it's taken from an atheist perspective or religious perspective is that it can only be traced so far. With an atheist perspective, stuff like "The meaning of life is to help others" doesnt link to anything beyond...

Whether God actually exists or not is irrelevant to what I'm saying, because a "believer" will trace their beliefs back to an ultimate source which to them is real. In contrast, an atheist develops morals on the basis of whatever they believe is right - which are essentially abstractions. In...

    Life

I'll admit that I haven't read everything word for word, but from what I gather, a large part of Sy's argument is that atheist's have no real basis for their beliefs as opposed to those who follow a religion, in which case I would agree. Atheist morals are just abstractions much in the vein of...

    Early Entry Law Notre Dame!

Keep in mind, I only did Law at ND for a short while a few years ago, so take my answers with a grain of salt: 1) It depends on the class, but usually around 30-40. The Law school is expanding, so it might be a bit more, but I still think they would break them all up. 2) It's pretty much all...

Who gets paid more? Acoountants or Aeronautical Engineers?

This pretty much. I know it sounds like an airy fairy answer, but a career is really what you make of it and there is a lot more to it than just your qualifications. I've worked at a business where people with just a trade ascended to quality middle management positions. I mean, in the future...

    Excel Training

Overall, it depends on what you need out of it. For me, I dont really need to do advanced calculations or to use Macro's/VB. I just need to use it to summarise non-numerical data for the purpose of creating reports (which would be considered "advanced" level skills for a HR person). In...

    Excel Training

To be honest, contrary to what I said before, I'd probably do the free course. I learned it in uni, but the course was pretty basic and the rest I learned on the job. All you need is a decent foundation and the rest you should be able to pick up when you need to.
