Dear god, put your phones on silent.

David Easdown is an awesome lecturer - lucky for those of u who have him for linear algebra. we get Molev for adv linear algebra - his russian accent is funny .

Dear god, put your phones on silent.

lol people in my lectures tend to have the stupidest ringtones, so usually they'll get laughed at if their phones went off. I mean, when your phone rings and won't stop until you take it out of your bag and silence it - everybody stares and laughs at you like you're some sort of retard, that's...

    Maths SSP and Chem labs

btw how come you can't move things into gaps over the internet? I had similar problem with one of the TSP third year lectures and my physics lab session. I moved it at myuni via the timetable unit...now I'm worried I haven't done the right thing...lol.

    Maths SSP and Chem labs

They kinda screwed a few things up this year because the course we can do for TSP maths (math3065 logic and foundation) and SSP maths tutorial clash. I can't even make it to the tutorial for 1906 because math3065 lecture is on the same time. and 1906 seminar (the tuesdae arvo one) clashes with...

    Aiming 2 get 100%

as far as I know I have not met one person who got 100% in every subject in the HSC, because coming first doesn't necessarily mean getting 100% in your HSC exam . Some subjects, like 4-unit maths, for example, rarely has anyone getting 120/120 (I think the only person I know who actually topped...

    Take a look at WebCT!

yep :( I can't open up the page. it just says 'cannot be connected'. is it important that we access it before uni starts?

    100 uai

the reason for that is because James Ruse is so selective that they don't take in any students who they dont consider having the potential of getting a UAI of 95+. as for the better set-up - I agree, because if you're surrounded by super smart people all the time, I guess you're sort of more...

    I Am Scared.

I used to think that during my HSC. but now that uni is starting I realise I have so much more work than the HSC (might be because I'm a science student...if you're doing arts you get much more free time...science just tires the crap out of you becuase you have all these extra hours to spend in...

    100 uai

I went to a not-so-great school. I mean it's not bad but nobody has ever gotten a UAI above 99.90. in 2006 we had two 100s and one 99.95. it doesn't matter if your cohort isn't great. this year u'd think that our school will b ranked really high becuase of the high UAIs but we were still ranked...

    100 uai

u dont need to be that perfect to get a UAI of 100. I got 94+ in all my subjects.

Am I spendin too much time on dot points?

I had heaps of notes to read over before the exams and that makes me all stressed when I can't remember everything because the notes were so long. As for skills, I'm not an expert in physics and bio, but for chemistry there are stuff like calculating heats of combustion, balancing equations...

14 units - am i wasting my time?

I did 13 units for my HSC and it was manageable, but then again I understand both legal and eco are a LOT of work. Nonetheless, 12 units is not that big an amount and you should be able to do fine with good time management. I wouldn't recommend dropping 2unit maths, because as you have said, a...

Am I spendin too much time on dot points?

Everybody does their dot points differently so u've got to find a way that is the most effective for you. I did huge dot points for chemistry and I did them in great detail, using various sources, so to me, spending hours on only 3-4 dot points don't seem abnormal. However, do you feel as if you...

    Truth in 'Animal Farm'

What's your core text? I did Animal Farm as my additional text for Ted Hughes:Birthday Letters. There are two layers of truth embedded into Animal Farm. The first layer is the one idea about the manipulation of truth within the text itself. E.g. Manipulatoin/corruption of language when the...

    Is it possible?

I think they look at your school rank as well. If you're ranked first in your school and got a perfect score, then you'll be ranked higher than a person who also got a perfect score but didn't come first in their school. But I'm not entirely sure. I thought a subject like ext 1 maths they'll...

    Assesment block 1 and UAI

20% for ext english I can understand...but 25% for physics! Wow that is very cruel. What school do you go to may I ask?

:) Advice Needed - To drop or not to drop? :)

I did 13 units for my entire HSC year. It was a lot of work but it is achievable, especially for someone who is self-motivated, as I'm sure you are. I would recommend keeping all your subjects until maybe after the half yearlies and then decide to drop or not, after analysing your results...

    Assesment block 1 and UAI

Assessment Block 1 usually only counts for around 10%, the most 15%, for each subject . I think those results are pretty good to start with, so I won't be too worried.
