It's been a few years since I've done my HSC, however this was the requirements that I had to meet to get into my double degree. Of course each uni may approach things differently.

You have to get the higher cutoff. For example* Cutoff for Engineering: 85 Cutoff for Commerce: 70 If you get a UAI of 85+ you're in. If you get 70 you can do commerce but not engineering. *not actual numbers, i can't be arsed to research it.
