    Anyone studying Peter Skrzynecki?

Thankyou very much!! I've recently composed an essay with related text 'The Mending Wall' by Robert Frost. I commented on the irony divisive features in building relationships between people, and how both nature and place are intrinsically related to sense of belonging, how perhaps the desire...

    Projectile Motion Experiment

We have a prac exam tomorrow and it will be on all the experiments we have done so far this course. So there is the one with the pendulum and the experiment where you roll a ball down a slope and off the edge of a bench so that you calculate the range. What are some possible discussion...

remember the alkanol molar heat of combustion prac? what are some possible discussion points for reliabilty, accuracy and validity? i was away :(

    Band 6 Cut-off estimations?

band 6 tends to be anything >75-80%. if you get scaling higher, that would be even better and should definately place you in band 6. GOOD LUCK!!!!

???? Molar heat and heat of combustion ????

Hi! What is the difference between molar heat of combustion and heat of combustion? It seems that when I look online for results for e.g, molar heat of combustion and heat of combustion of ethanol, there are many websites with conflicting values, either giving these values as molar heat of...

    Anyone studying Peter Skrzynecki?

In relation to the belonging topic, does anyone have any thoughts on the question: Belonging is not just black or white, discuss in relation to two poems you have studied. I already have a few ideas, but as this is probably going to be an extended response I'm asking for your input...

Does anyone feel like they're not going to get their desired english mark?

dont forget scaling. if everyone does badly, they will scale up your mark... another thing my teacher penalises me marks for is for a lack of structure in my essays. No doubt you have all heard of the PEEL structure, but it really comes into play in year 12.

Why do alkanols have higher boiling points than their corresponding alkanes?

Thanks guys for the quick response, but just wondering, even as ethanol can form strong hydrogen bonding, so more energy is required to break its bonds, if we were to take one molecule of ethanol and an alkane by itself (so it hasn't formed bonds or attracitve forces with another molecule)...

    Cyclohexene + Bromine Water?

oohhh... this was my favourite experiment to explain: Ok Alkanes only undergo substitution reactions, in UV light we see that they react with the bromine solution because the Uv produced free radicals which could then react Alkene is reactive because of the electron density at the double bond...

    Polar/Non-polar Hydrocarbons

If you look at the structure of the methane molecule, the bond dipoles cancel each other out, so overall, the molecule is non polar You already know water is a polar molecule, but because methane has no free acting dipole within its structure, the polar attraction of water will have no effect...

Why do alkanols have higher boiling points than their corresponding alkanes?

 Hi guys! This is my first post ! yay anyway, what i am really here to ask is why do alkanols in general have higher boiling points than their corresponding alkanes? I know that alkanols have weak dispersion forces due to the ethyl group, and they have extensive hydrogen...
