English Area of Study to be dropped

I really love this idea, and it is what I meant when describing a focus on literature for Module A earlier. There really needs to be a focus on the classics. Senior English is the only opportunity to study such literature for, sadly, far too many people. They need to treat it very carefully...

    General Thoughts: Modern History

I largely agree with Rick's assessment of the Germany question. I quite liked the dynamics of connecting the Weimar republic with the Nazi rule. I accentuated the flaws in the Nazi's management more than I anticipated looking back now. My favourite section was WWI. I didn't like the...

Will you stay on BoS after your HSC?

It has served a particular purpose and I intend for it to stay that way. The shorter the experience, the sweeter the memories for me. It was fun while it lasted.

English Area of Study to be dropped

Module C by far. Absolutely deplored that topic. There is too much duplication between the three modules. The excessive focus on context, values and purpose is not right. They should replace the Area of Study with a core topic on linguistics -- which should be a senior version of NAPLAN's...

    Section I: Multiple Choice

If the judge has reservations as to whether the prosecution and defence are trying to send an innocent person to gaol, then they can abort the change. Their duty to natural justice and procedural fairness overrides any other prerogative they may have. This is why the judge must consider it -...

    Section I: Multiple Choice

I think the Judge has to consider the agreement rather than agree to it because it qualified their action with a 'must'.

I quite liked the paper. Good to see domestic violence was assessed. There were some interesting multiple choice questions.

    English extension 1 thoughts?

Yes, your politics prediction was a very good call!! I remembered your post in the reading time. Like in coz707's case, the exam was a total godsend for me. I could not have asked for better questions. Politics was my favourite 'way of thinking', and a cafe was my preferred setting for the...

Best websites to keep up to date with economics?

I would recommend Michael Janda's articles for updates on statistics. Greg Jericho provides the best commentary on statistics, though. The SMH - and the articles of Michael Pascoe and Ross Gittins in particular - are quite good for a perspective on the big picture issues. While they don't...

    Predictions 2015

I think there will be a focus on the buildup to Germany's defeat, i.e. u-boats, the Zimmerman letter and particularly the 1917 events with Russia and the US. I am also predicting that the Big Three will be in there, and that the paper will include a question that combines (or links) two dot-points.

Australia in the Global Economy 2016 textbook

Absolutely right. Purchasing the 2016 edition will provide you with outdated statistics anyway. I suggest updating them yourself. If you borrow the textbook, make a collection of statistics. If you purchase it, update it in a manner similar to what mreditor has suggested.
