Advice: If you're really unsure on passing and have a chance on getting the supp exam, start studying for it.
He did but the exam was done earlier last year too.
Re: How hard is it to achieve a WAM of 70 in Computer Science during the first semest
Refer to https://my.unsw.edu.au/student/academiclife/program_transfer/program_trans_Eng.html
You need at least 36 Unit of Credit (min. 2 semesters, >=6 courses * 6 UoC) for Internal Program Transfer. You can...
He's an awesome guy and does 1917 too. There's COMP1400 which is a basic object-oriented (Java) design course, probably a watered-down version of COMP2911.
Maybe, but less likely and you have to deal with less cores. I'm suggesting only cores that could fit in to give the opportunity of keeping the Science degree too and the subject combination in the timetable was the only one (excluding Sci degree subjects) which does not clash and that you could...
Just realised MATS1101 isn't core. When you drop that, you can take
MMAN2100 (no clash)
move 1241 to another stream (by request) and take MTRN3500 (no clash)
Assuming Sticking with Comp Sci
Bridging then COMP1927 [clash on Tuesday 2-3 acceptable]
Bridging then COMP2041 [No clash with web option, request to get into a lab, this course is taught by Andrew Taylor too]
MATH1081 [if you haven't done it, move MATS1101 tutorial to another time, 1hr clash]...

MMAN1130 is only offered in 1st semester.
If you want to swap a 2nd year core with your elective, you can take ELEC1111 (almost full), MMAN2100 (almost full), MMAN2600, MMAN3000 (not recommended for 1st year.)
