    Cambridge exercises: are they unnecessarily challenging?

    I think Cambridge textbooks are excellent to learn the topics in terms of the organization and examples. The foundation and development level questions are well prepared. But the challenge questions have a different purpose. Don't bother with them unless you have a special interest in...

    How does standard math scale down ?

    There are a lot of rumors about ATAR scaling of Standard math. I saw the attached document in one of the posts. If it is true, then there is no scaling down when you get Band 6. Can anyone confirm the correctness of this document ? Do you know people who did Standard math and got ATAR above 98 ?

    AFFORDABLE MATHEMATICS & BUSINESS STUDIES TUTORING | 98.60 ATAR | 98 Advanced Math | 95 Business Studies | 94 MX1 | 93 MX2

    I don't know this guy, he may or may not be a good tutor. But I object to some of the reasons for the negative comments . I am an electrical engineer. I did U4 math in high school. But I understood the concepts better after using them in practical engineering problems. Frankly if I would need a...

    Standard will be better for you. But don't take it lightly either. For ATAR calculations it is scaled down when the mark is below 90.

    how do I prove two graphs are equivalent?

    First write the left side as P(x)=6cos2(2x) then use the double-angle identity : Cos(2x) = 2cos2(x) – 1 --> cos2(x) = (1 + cos(2x))/2 Apply to cos2(2x) --> cos2(2x) = (1 + cos(4x))/2 Substitue in P(x) : P(x) = 6(1 + cos(4x))/2 = 3(1+cos(4x)) = R(x)

    trigonometry question

    a)Find the angle at the dish : (6378/sin24)=7358/sinD) --> D= 28. Then find the angle at the centre of the earth : 180-(24+28) = 128. Distance from the dish to satellite : (x/sin128) = (6378/sin24) --> x = 12357 km b) 12357/300000 = 0.041 second Although this answer is correct mathematically, I...
