Need urgent advice: WOuld I do well in an engineering degree without HSC physics

Only specific parts of physics you will need to know. Off the top of my head: - Forces & Vectors - Basic conservation of energy/momentum If you did 4unit maths, you should cover it. Some disciplines don't require any physics (Materials science)

Chemical Engineering @ USYD - A Complete overview

There is no doubt in my mind that if you do chemical engineering, you will get a job. How is mechanical at all different from chemical? Both have the same kind of jobs. Design/manufacturing/research/etc. If manufacturing was screwed, so would mechanical. According to the Australian Government...

Chemical Engineering @ USYD - A Complete overview

ENG/Commerce is 5 years @ USYD Also first year maths/chemistry and second year chem count towards chemical engineering. (and obviously your commerce subs will count towards commerce) Also your response is a good attempt! But not quite right, I want to know the velocity of the water at the...

Chemical Engineering @ USYD - A Complete overview

The advanced engineering program is essentially EXACTLY the same as the normal stream, the only difference is in the whole year, instead of 1 elective, you do 1 advanced engineering subject. In many cases, you may choose to overload the subject (if you have no electives in that year). So...

Chemical Engineering @ USYD - A Complete overview

Hi, Chemical engineering and chemistry are fairly different. Chemistry doesn't teach the basics of chemical engineering or how to think like an engineer. Here's a question: If your tap pours out water at a rate of 100mL/s, what's the velocity at which it's coming out? If you can answer that...

Thank you there kind sir. Also keep in mind, there's a lot of opportunity to work overseas (two of my uni mates are going to texas for internship this summer)

Chemical Engineering @ USYD - A Complete overview

Hi my name is Jimmy. I'm a '08 HSC grad from FSHS. Currently completing a bachelor of chemical and biomolecular engineering degree (advanced) @USYD. My goal today is to tell you guys about what this course is. I got a UAI of 99.45 and chose Chemical engineering over things like Law / Med /...

    help!

I think this question is slightly out the HSC syllabus. Here's a hint if you want to try anyway: First try to find [H], next try to recall how [H] and [OH] is related.

Maths Question - addition vs multiplication

Basically you're asking when to use a linear scale, and when to you a log scale? I think log scales are numbers are large and highly varied. It's also better when values mean little by themselves and are usually used as a comparison / relative to each other. There may be subtler reasons for...

3 Unit Maths HSC Exam Revision

My mistake, I misinterpreted the question. I interpreted the part "a stone is thrown so that it will hit a bird at the top of a pole." to be hitting the bird as it flies away. Rather than literally on top of the pole.

No. You open it. I took a long time typing it up neatly. I can't copy and paste it. Here a really really raelly relaly basic logic scenario. Object 1 displacement is (x1,y1) Object 2 displacement is (x2,y2) A hit occurs only when x1=x2, and y1=y2 Where x = Vxt Take object 1 = stone, object 2 =...

3 Unit Maths HSC Exam Revision

Which part do you disagree with? 1. For some pole height, H, (Given the restriction max height = 2H), you can find TOI (time of impact) in the y plane. 2. This TOI in y plane must = TOI in x plane. That is TOI = f(H) 3. TOI occurs when displacement from origin of stone = displacement from...

3 Unit Maths HSC Exam Revision

    1. A given height of pole, H specifies the time of impact. (As 2H is max height). That is TOI = f(h) 2. X distance between bird and stone is. W + 10t - Vx*t = distance between bird and stone. Take impact( x distance between bird and stone = 0) Vx*t = W + 10t Vx = W/t + 10 Vx = f(TOI)...

3 Unit Maths HSC Exam Revision

There are infinite solutions. Take case 1 for example. Imagine L to be 10m. Take W to be 0. What does Vx has to be to hit bird ? 10m/s Take w to be 1. Will Vx = 10 hit bird? No. "That is, at t=T1 the stone must be at (W,L). This together with the other info, puts restrictions on the whole...

You are suggesting that their is a unique solution. What does this mean? This means if you can solve for a specific solution for U. It means you can solve for a specific solution for L and W. But we already know that L and W have no specific solution (in that they can be anything). So...

You can CHOOSE to be exempet from 6 first semester credit points. Either Physics/Math/Chemistry. I do not recommend this however. Overloading is best
