Correct me if I'm wrong, but marks are scaled to a bell curve. That means they've allocated 5% of the cohort to get high distinctions and therefore there are always going to be people who get them.

Bottom line is, employers won't even look at your resume unless they desperately need staff. Even Woolworths, Coles and McDonalds will stop looking at resumes if they don't need any more staff.
