Get out either book by Richard Pipes - very useful. Other authors to look for - our teacher gave us a list for a similar topic - would be D. Volkogonov, J. Carmichael, O. Figes - oh yes!, M. Lynch, S. Leonard, R. Segal, I. Thatcher. There's also a book called In the Court of the Red Tsar...

Anyone got some concerts coming up that are open to friends? Maybe recitals of your program, or whatever?

I want to agree with what everyone's been saying. I'm mostly doing AMus or LMus pieces, but I'm also doing a piece I did for my sixth grade exam, years ago, which really came off well. I played it in my assessment, and got full marks - woot! - so I think that that's the way to go.

Well, I kinda had to finish early. I mean, the way I look at it, it isn't great - I'm really not much of a composer. So the longer I have to work on it, get advice, etc, the better. Once we get them recorded, we should share them! Make a BoS HSC Composition CD! Heh, very lame.

You could get a good Roland, or Cassio for that price.

Well, I'm on an academic scholarship, so I'm not really sure... but I think it's something in the vicinity of 18k for year twelve. Something like that. Either way, I wouldn't have been able to go there if I didn't get the scholarship - I had been going to North Sydney. Camps/Excursions/Books...
