What is UNSW like in terms of social life, for Aussie Caucasians?

This thread is weird. I'm Asian, an international student, studied at UNSW, English is my first language, I don't limit my social interaction within cliques and I don't pee on toilet seat covers. Naturally, I take offense at the OP's statement. I thought Coogee is one of the more "progressive"...

    GENC7003 - Managing Your Business

Yes, and I would avoid it with a 10 feet pole if its the same guy from ASB Business Laws teaching it. It has the most ridiculous inconsistencies in assessment grading and no one could tell you why you were awarded the mark as there were no comments in the graded piece of work nor will the...

    UNSW 2009 S2 Results Thread

I know posting assessment e-mails is ultra-lame, but it's my last session and I've never been so excited over uni. It's the END, finally! UNSW Assessment Results for Semester 2 2009 Issued at Tue Dec 1 17:20:02 2009 ======================================================== Session...

    UNSW 2009 S2 Results Thread

How is it possible that people have gotten results sent out yesterday? There doesn't appear to be anything coming through yet and I was told today (December 1st) is the last day lecturers could still make changes to marks if they wanted to, with an afternoon cut-off at which point e-mails would...

Likelihood of a conceded pass in Comp1917? (NOT HAPPY)

Anyone remembered what questions were asked? I didn't sit for this exam.

    The S1 2009 Results Prediction/Real Thread

COMP results are released either via WebCMS or sturec. In a CSE terminal, ~cs1917/bin/classrun -sturec

    The S1 2009 Results Prediction/Real Thread

Oh how I wished UNSW considers 80+ as a HD. It's annoying when they assign HD to 85+ only as that depresses our grades when compared to other unis, making us look bad next to grads from other unis. Sometimes, in a rush, HR will only skim read the grades and that puts us at a disadvantage.

    FINS2624 - What the fuck

But that's contradictory to what Henry Yip will tell you. He says you must attend all lectures.... :p

    FINS2624 - What the fuck

The major question I have is how do the students who get 90%-100% in this course do it?

The s1 2008 Uni Results thread

Perhaps the uni servers are now so fast and efficient that they can concurrently push out 50000 mails tomorrow morning at 9am sharp. If I'm not mistaken, the web services are now outsourced or will be soon enough.

The s1 2008 Uni Results thread

UNSW is cutting costs this year due to severe operational losses and as such, no results will be released via e-mail to reduce infrastructure costs, especially when students often bombard the servers around this time.

Software Engineering / Computer Science+Honours / Software Engineering + Commerce

Where did you hear this? I don't think people fail 3rd year SENG THAT easily. By 3rd year, if you survived your first 2 years of COMP and SENG and know how to program well, you will survive 3rd year SENG. I have only one advice, i.e. get to know your cohorts, form a good team and work together.

    Best for Software Engineering

Totally untrue. UNSW's Software Engineering does not have an electrical focus and this is where they differ from Sydney University. UNSW's SENG degree is probably one of the best among unis in Sydney. It has as much industry-relevance as UTS's programs as the computing courses are the same as...

Are there too many Internationals at UNI these days?

Gosh, this thread is childish and awful. I hope nobody here with such extreme views is a tutor/lecturer at uni.

    INFS2603 help

The past papers for this subject has been grossly inaccurate as the lecturers change every session and you can't really expect them to ask you to design the same system each year. As long as you know your OO theory, class diagrams, DFDs, you should be fine. The exam last year was incredibly long...

    UNSW Asia- your thoughts?

They did this because they can. UNSW Asia doesn't sound 1/2 as weird as University of Sydney, Singapore. Now that will sound wrong, don't you think? Note they emphasise on the use of the abbreviated form. Same reason why I can see Monash in Malaysia, but not University of Melbourne Malaysia.

    Notebook brands

Umm, they are about the same weight as equivalent Thinkpads and MBP. They come in various sizes too. It's not as light as the Sony Vaios, but it's as good as any Thinkpads. HP-Compaq has come a long way since their merger and Lenovo now seems to fall behind as it struggles to cope with the...
