The 'What are these units like?' Thread- 2007

Anyone know what these subjects like? And how are the lecturers? ACST151 ECON110 (Is it true that this unit is essentially the year 12 economics course?) MATH132 STAT171 Thanks in advanced.

Is the SAM card worth buying?

But doesn't your student ID have all that info anyway? And if you're saving a mere 20c of food etc, then I guess it's not worth it. But I don't know, I guess I might use it once in a while with my 3 hour breaks on thursdays =x

Is the SAM card worth buying?

Or is it just a waste of money?

    Band 6 cut off?

you're forgetting something - economics doesn't scale THAT well + the test overall wasn't exactly hard. Im guessing at least 87% raw is required for a band 6.

    Want to compare multiple-choice answers?

    that is incorrect. The answer is C By using basic trig, Sin 45 = 0.4 / L Therefore 0.4 = L.sin45 By using the formula F = BILsin@ B = 0.5 T A = 3 A Lsin@ = 0.4 Therefore F = 0.6 N

The most tragic mistake ever... or something very clever ?

Hm, I see you have forgotten Galileo's analysis of projectile motion. The vertical component is INDEPENDENT of the horizontal component. So, in essence the horizontal velocity is kept constant (where it undergoes no acceleration), but the vertical acceleration changes (depending on its position...

    What HSC MARK?

Haha. Ignore the people above. It really depends on how well everyone else went in the state. If the standard deviation is high, then you'll probably get scalled to 99 or even 100. But remember, you're not the only one predicting to get 99-100, it was an easy test. I bet there are at least a...

    Module B Question!!

yeh i did sadly - but don't worry. Alot of the state would have approached it in the same way.

    Module B Question!!

dennis - my essay was structured the same way as yours. I believe its wrong. You should have focused more on how the audience is able to witness the film (eg through the eye level perspective of Samuel etc).

    Terms of Trade

"comparing the change in price between one period and another" - so are you implying that it is comparing the price of exports relative to imports FOR A GIVEN QUANTITY?
  12. eX-Bhai

    Terms of Trade

so the volume of exported and imported goods is held constant?

    Terms of Trade

Can someone please explain this concept? Like I understand that the "proper definition" refers to the export price index relative to the import price index. But how does this exactly work? You can have an exporting good, say a loaf of bread to one million dollars, but that doesn't necessarily...

    Cooper Pairs

Heh, thanks for explaining it - I'm still don't think ive grasped the concept yet, but yeh - ill ask my teacher tomorrow. Thanks again, much appreciated =)

    Cooper Pairs

But if the greater 'positiveness' attracts another electron, how will the electron pass through the crystal lattice? Wouldn't the springing back of the crystal lattice cause the original electron to remain stationary (since the attraction force between the negative electron and the positive...

    Measurement of wealth?

I understand how the inequality of the distribution of income can be measured through the lorenz curve or the gini coefficient, but there is there any known measurement (within the HSC syllabus) for inequality in the distribution of wealth?

    Cooper Pairs

I understand how cooper pairs are formed, but how exactly do the "binding" of electrons, or cooper pairs allow for a smooth path across the crystal lattice? Like wouldnt these cooper pairs (or having two negatively charged electrons side by side which causes a greater 'negative' force) attract...

    HSC kiddes

Hm, I'd say yes, not only because fighter jets dont require a run up, but although the plane will remain stationary, there is something which would let it fly - i just don't know what that something is as yet =P haha
