Well i am in year 12 and these are my subjects :

Extension english
extension maths
chemistry
economics
and physics

I hate physics and i want to drop it but im worried that it might be a bit unsafe.
Anyone else did alright with 10 units?
What are your thoughts?

yeah, in fact some people find it harder to do 12 units because if they do less, they have more time to study outside class, and only 10 units count anyway.
i do 11 units :) and it's better than having a full timetable.
if you go well in all your subjects it won't matter if you do only 10. and if you don't think you'll go well in physics, drop it and use the free periods you get to study for your other subjects.]
i'd do 10, but my german extension's helping my continuers german :D

I do ten. So don't worry. As long as you're confident about doing well in them.

Yeh apparently having 12 ensures you a high UAI, providing you do good. whereas 10 will still get u high UAI but u have to do real good in all of them.
yeah if u want a backup do 11 or 12
but if ur confident do 10

my school really doesn't want any of us to do ten units: you have to write in and everything in order to do 10 units, so being in that context I don't think it's a good idea. 12 is a good number. But if you're confident, go ahead. One girl topped Bio and placed in top 10 for both Legal Studies and PDHPE and only other untis were 2U MAths and 2U English (Adv) in 2002 (see 2002 results forum) and achieved a UAI of 100  , so if you're of stellar stuff like her, it won't matter what no of units you do. Otherwise, if you stuff up, you can accumulate units up to five years, so taking another year to repeat/do more units to push up UAI is another option.

well in year 11 i did 12 units (obviously) but i dropped modern in yr 12. i was absolutely pathetic at it. i knew that if they take your bes t10 units, they definately werent guna take modern history. so i didnt see the point of wasting my time trying to do it when it wasnt gunna be counted anyway. god i hated history. since then, i luv all my subjects, exeot maybe chem, but hey that cant be helped, at least i can do better at it than modern.

i was told that it would be better for me to do 12 just incase i bombed out in an exam. but when you do adv english, physics, avd maths, Modern history, science and drama 12 units is a bit to much. i think 11 is the best.

I do 11, if u can handle the stress of 12 do 12 if you cant then stick to 11, or 10 if u are realy confident and do well in most of those units anyway
