ok, so now that im in year 12, im going to have to drop a 1 unit subject automatically (don't even ask...) leaving me with 11 units. My question is, should i just drop 3 unit maths to 2 unit? cause i dont really see a point in keeping a 1 unit subject... (no "safety net" right?)

You do realise that 3U scales excellently and isn't that hard a course if you're mathematically inclined, right?
They take your top 10 units - even if that means splitting one of your other 2U subjects to take 3U because the scaled mark is higher.
So unless you're really struggling with the workload or content, don't drop.
