hey, next time, to make it easier for those who answer, can you please printscreen the question, paste into paint, crop it, save as an image and upload it as an attachment?

16) 4, __ (let this number be x), __ (let this number be y), 22

question says the 2 previous numbers add together to give the next. From this you can form 2 equations

4 + x = y ... 1
x + y = 22 ... 2

sub 1 to 2

x + (4+x) = 22
2x = 18
x = 9

sub x = 9 to 1
y = 13

19) A rail ticket cost $12. After a price rise the same ticket cost $15.
What percentage increase was the price rise on the original cost?

The price increase = $15 - $12 = $3

% price increase on original cost = 3/12 x 100 = 25%

22) angle sum of a triangle = 180

.'. adding all the angles together, you get an equation, which you can solve:

2m + 3m + 4m = 180
9m = 180
m = 20

24) see attachment

33) "at least one" means you must have 1 or more. (meaning that families with 1,2 & 3 girls must be counted)

answer is d (7/8)

35) d , when folded up, the coloured boxes won't be next to each other.

Have a set method to use. I tend to picture the line of 4 squares being folded up (forming a cube-like shape), and then the flaps being folded up to complete the cube.

37) To figure out the commission, you have to minus the set salary she earns.

$860 - $270 = $590

This $490 represents 5% of her sales OVER $40 000. Meaning she had to have sold more than $40 000 worth of cars to get commission.

To figure out the amount she gained commission from, multiply $590 by 20

$590 x 20 = $11 800 (ie 5% x 20 = 100%)

The total amount she sold = $40 000 + $11 800 = $51 800 (ie C)
