gday all, got this form last year's independant trial, although i think it may hav abeen a bit that my skool added, anyway, it says

question 6

c)

i) given a function y = f(x), under what geometrical conditions would f(x) = f ^-1 (x) (function equals the inverse function)

ii) give an example for which f(x) = f^-1 (x)

this is a weird question they are worth 2 and 1 marks respectively so wat would u say.....

cheers

-dawso

(btw - i just said its when the lines are a reflection about the line y=x and both pass the vertical line test (geometrical way of sayin they are one-to-one....) and then an example would be as easy as y=x....)

can anyone think of any other conditons that would need 2 be included here?

a) The two graphs need to be reflections of each other through the line y=x.
b)y=1/x
