Melb Uni sem1 timetables 2009

Has anybody viewed them yet?

If so, do you like/hate it so far?
I have a 6 hour break for one of the days so I'm pretty much not loving Alloc8 at the moment :vcross:

Wow I have every thursday completely free!!! Haha only a 4 day week. Which is awesome cos it takes me like an hour to get to uni on buses, would have been annoyed if I had to go in for one lecture on a day.

Although 2 of the days I have 2 hour blocks of nothing which could be annoying...but other than that most of my classes are straight after each other, which is good, and most are morning, except mondays where my last engineering systems workshop is 5pm :(

Lucky you. I miss my fridays free during first year.:( Now I have to be in uni for 5 days. All because of a one hour architecture lecture during EARLY friday mornings - and it takes me more than an hour to get to Uni

Monday: Classes from 10am - 4pm (No lunch break) :evilfire:

Tuesday: Engineering work shops from 2pm - 5pm :D

Wednesday: Lectures from 9am - 12pm, that science 101 thing from 12 pm - 1pm and then I have a 1 hour break followed buy physics pracs from 2pm - 5pm:)

Why can't architecture schedules be more like this??? (where 3 or 4-hr breaks are the norm) How many contact hours do you have? I've got 15, and Alloc8 managed to spread those meager hours over 5 days!

I have 12 contact hours and mine is spread over five days.

Provided I am able to change my tutes around to how I want them:

Monday: 11-12.30
Tuesday: 2.15 - 5.45
Wednesday: 2.15 to late (concert band after classes)
Thursday: 2.15-5.15
Friday: 11-12

Did I mention I live an hour away by train?

Damn second year arts subjects only having one option for lectures!!! I have to go all five days because one class has one lecture on monday, one has lectures on tuesday and thursday, and another has lectures on wednesday and friday. So that covers every day. Yay.

I only have 14 and it's managed to do the same for me haha. I think I have the same lecture as you on the Friday, Foundations of Architecture? Then nothing till a Calculus lecture at 3.

Hopefully you can try and move a few things around tomorrow, try and make Friday worth your while and maybe get Thursday off or something.

I also miss free Fridays, though I didn't have it off last semester either. My first semester timetable was epic, on Thursday I had one tutorial from 4 to 6 and on Friday I had nothing.
yeah, foundations of architecture - it's also the reason why i have a 6 hour break on one of the days. not possible for me to have thursday off (or any day, in particular) coz i have lectures everyday except wednesday, and on this day i've got a tute for my breadth, which only has wednesday tutes. also, i'm already happy with thursday, as all of my classes then are in another campus.

yeah, i know right. 9am lectures ... do you live far away from uni too?
i've got that studio for Wednesday afternoon, which is pretty ideal coz i have a club/society thing on wednesday evening till night time. are you planning to change any of your tutes/studios? i am, but it's annoying when they're all overfull like last year

Fair enough.

I hate three hour ones, Designing made me want to die sometimes in first semester. Hopefully this one is more interesting. It's pretty much impossible for me to shift this thing around so I'll have to make do I guess.

I can't really complain though, it takes me like 15 minutes to get from home to class. Hope yours gets better kenny, three days with one lecture is pretty crap.
Yeah, Designing made me wanna squirm - it's so subjective.. Like in one of the projects, the senior lecturer thought that my group's work was one of the best in the course but the tutor(who's responsible for marking it), thought it's average at best. I hope they assign better studio tutors this time around.

Edit: oops, I shouldn't be mean to Designing Env, seeing as I'll be receiving a book voucher courtesy of the subject convenors

Oh and to Joel8945, that's a whole lotta contact hours. But hey, you're doing engineering, so that much can be expected

Yeah, I pretty much gave up on the subject. My tutor was pretty bad and it didn't help that the subject was so unclear with the tasks, everyone was told different things and extra considerations kept being added each week, especially for the tower/bridge assignment. Hopefully it was handled better in second semester, but still everyone I know who did it then thought it was pretty average. Did you do it first or second semester?

Congrats on the voucher though, haha
I had it 2nd semester, same with Virtual - if I knew beforehand that they are the two most time-consuming Environments subjects, I wouldn't have taken them in the same semester. It helped, though, that there was an exhibition thing for the Designing projects in the second sem. Same with Reshaping.

Haha, the voucher was a surprise, quite amusing really - first time I've ever won anything through a draw.

i would have thought that arts lectures are more flexible as there are a lot more students (there was what, 1700 local student intake in Arts for 2007?).
yeah, it's annoying to be training to Uni for an hour each way only to have one lecture. At least you don't have 9am starts  There's still achance to sleep in if you have an 11am start

When do you have engineering systems design classes and calculus 2 classes?
Pardon my ignorance. How come you have ESD, when you're in Bachelor of Science (accdg to your sig)? Oh, and have you had a look at the Engineering block at all? The Engineering buildings just freak me out, for some reason

Hmm i totally need to change mine. i seriously can't do 6hr days with a 3 hr break in between, let alone the 3 1hr days >< and 9am starts = bad cos it takes me like around 50min to get to city by bus during peak hour.

Apparently everyone had the same idea of changing their schedules once the clock hits 12:01. I can't even get past the 'View My Timetable' page in Alloc8 due to too much Internet traffic. Aargh:jedi:

Edit: Mission accomplished. Gotten rid of the 6 hour break = an afternoon free. That's the best thing (no, the only thing) I could do at the moment, as ALL Wednesday studios are full, so the 3 hour break just has to stay.

With the melbourne model I have chosen to do a bachelor of science degree and have majoring in an engineering field an option (as majoring in physics is still something I'm considering). So the brilliance of the degree is that I can do my science subjects whilst having engineering as an option and if I do pursue engineering it may take 1 more year to get my accreditation (exactly the same as the bachelor of engineering degree) but I come out with a bachelor degree and a professional masters degree. This is not to say that I wouldn't pursue a graduate degree if I go down the science track as getting a PhD in physics is also another track I am very interested in taking.
