Guys,

I am curious on users opinions on the new format/layout of next year's HSC Physics paper by the NSW BOS.

From what i have heard/read the new format will have 20 marks for the 15 multiple choice with perhaps 2 marks on the last 5 multiple choice questions.

i.e.

Section I -
Part A
Q1-10 - 1 mark each
Q11-15 - 2 marks each.

Part B
Will not be worth 60 marks any more but instead 55 marks.

Here is the official statement from BOS....

OMG.... NO look at Part B 10 short answer questions... this paper is well and truly screwed...look out school certificate there is a new demon... Even the option has been tampered with seven part question?????????? and WOWZA an 8 mark question in the option HOLY SMOKE!!!!!!bring in RASPUTIN.... :(

Part A (20 marks)
• There will be objective response questions to the value of 20 marks.
Part B (55 marks)
• There will be approximately 10 short-answer questions.
• Questions may contain parts.
• There will be approximately 18 items in total.
• At least one item will be worth from 6 to 8 marks.
Section II – Options (25 marks)
• There will be five questions, one for each of the options.
• Candidates will be required to answer the question on the option they have studied.
• Each question will consist of approximately seven short-answer parts.
• At least one part will be worth from 6 to 8 marks.

Clarifying a few points. There is going to be 20 multiple choice, not 15.

All other questions in the current HSC are short answer. They are worth less than 8 marks and aren't essay style.

Yes they will save money by having to employ less markers but it basically means 5 less short answer than now and 5 more multi-choice.

Hahah ! Funny comment above. Are there any other changes concerning 2010 subjects? Will the syllabus change by any chance? Just curious....

I'm sure that all this 20 multiple choice business is to reduce printing cost.
