many people say that if u have done 3u in yr 11 it is better to drop to 2u in yr 12 and get higher marks as u already have learnt the entire course...

good idea or not?

You have NOT learnt the entire 2 unit course in 3u preliminary... nowhere near.

Besides, keeping 3U would definitely improve your 2u marks regardless.

Yes you have, you learn everything except trig functions and exponentials/logs.

All I know is that the 3u prelim people that came up to 4u to join the 2u accelerated people only had to catch up on the two topics I have already stated.

i think thats right, but it would depend on how fast your school went
It's also probably dependent on whether you did 3u specific topics such as permutations, parametrics etc in year 11.

They're yr 11, but perhaps some schools teach 2u Yr 12 in Yr 11 instead, for the benefit of those dropping down.

I think if you look in the Jones/Couchman 3u prelim book, those are the topics that are taught at my school, and the ones in the 3u hsc book are the ones left until year 12.

The last few topics are in both books tho...
Interestingly, my school delays integration until Yr 12.
