Old news but anyway...

No HECS fees rise at University of Wollongong
Jun 16, 2004

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wollongong, Professor Gerard Sutton, today announced that the University would not increase the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) for current and prospective students in 2005.

A decision on HECS was expected to have been made by the University of Wollongong Council at its meeting on August 13, however, the Vice-Chancellor said he had now received Council support for the current HECS fees structure to remain unaltered.

UOW has already announced it will also not be introducing domestic fee-paying courses in 2005.

Under a new Federal reform package effective from January 1 next year, universities could raise HECS fees on all courses (except the exempted areas of teaching and nursing) up to 25 per cent.

The Vice-Chancellor said the University would monitor its fees levels in 2005 to determine any need for required changes from 2006.

Just proves that UOW is better than half of those other universities...

Now all we need is alcohol that actually has a price resembling subsidisation by union fees.

it is because UOW is rich (due to international students). our commerce lecturer told us that last session.

without international students UOW wouldn't exist

That's so true... they account for some ridiculous amount of revenue. They pay us a load of money, we give them an education and free sausage sizzles.
